Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), also known as the people’s University was established in 1985 by an Act of Parliament. It is a distance learning University which is located at Maidan Garhi in New Delhi. Indira Gandhi National Open University is the largest university in the world with an enrollment of over 40 Lakh students, with over 67 regional centers spread across the country. IGNOU MBA- Structure

MBA was added as an IGNOU course in 1987 for the first time. The MBA from IGNOU ODL mode, also known as the correspondence mode can be completed in a duration of 2.5 to 8 years. Though the time period is very generous, yet it is advisable to complete the course within the minimum time.

IGNOU MBA is open for a fresher and also for Entrepreneurs, Business Executives and Graduates working for a company.

IGNOU does not provide dual specialization in MBA; however, you can do a PG Diploma course after you have completed the MBA course.

Books can be purchased from shops by telling the books’ name or their subject codes. They can also be bought online from www.amazon.in.

Fees of IGNOU MBA

For completing MBA from IGNOU, the total number of courses a student needs to go through is 21. The fee of each course for students from India is Rs. 1500 per subject, i.e.

1500*21=Rs. 31500 (Total)

For students from SAARC nations, the fee in Rs. 3000 per subject which makes the total,

3000*21=Rs. 63000 (Total)

For students from other countries the fees per course is $350 that makes it

350*21=$7350 (Total)

Admission Procedure and Eligibility

Admission to any of the MBA specializations from IGNOU can be made based on the result of OPENMAT (OPEN Management Aptitude Test ).

There is no age restriction.

OPENMAT is conducted twice a year for admission to management courses. It is a three-hour pen-paper based exam consisting of 200 questions from Quantitative Aptitude, English Language, Reasoning, and General Awareness sections.

The registration fee for OPENMAT is Rs. 1050.

While the eligibility criteria are as follows:

  • Graduation in any discipline with minimum 50% marks for general category (45% for reserved category) with 3 years managerial/supervisory/professional experience.

OR

  • Any professional degree in Engineering, Medical, CA, etc. with a minimum of 50% marks (45% for reserved category).
