What is APECET?

AP ECET stands for Andhra Pradesh Engineering Common Entrance Test. It is a state level engineering entrance examination conducted by Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Anantapur.

The entrance test is conducted for diploma and B.Sc. degree holders from recognized universities in Andhra Pradesh for admission in the second year of engineering and second year of pharmacy courses. This entrance examination is conducted on the behalf of Andhra Pradesh State Council for Higher Education (APSCHE) and only domicile holders of Andhra Pradesh can appear in this examination.

AP ECET 2018 will be conducted as a computer-based examination (online mode). The date of examination will be notified to the candidates on the official website. Therefore, candidates are advised to regularly check the official website for the notification. There will be no provision of re-examination for absentee candidates.

Structure of APECET exam

The pattern of the examination will depend on the course chosen by the candidate. The test’s duration will be 3 hours. There will be 200 questions in the question paper irrespective of the stream. All the questions will be of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) type consisting of four options with only one correct answer. Following will be the marking scheme:

  • For every correct response to a question, the candidate will get 1 mark.
  • There will be no penalty for wrong answers.
  • Questions for which multiple responses are marked will be treated as an incorrect response.
  • In case of ambiguity in the questions, board’s decision will be final.

The medium of the question paper will be in English. A candidate has to attempt the respective paper to be eligible for admission in that particular course.

APECET 2018 Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for appearing in AP ECET are as follows:

  • Nationality: Indian citizens are eligible to write AP ECET 2018.
  • Domicile: Candidates have to ensure that they have a domicile of Andhra Pradesh. It is mandatory for them to satisfy local/ non-local status.

Academic Qualification

  • Students should have obtained a Diploma in B.Tech/ Pharmacy from the State Board of Technical Education of Andhra Pradesh State. OR
  • Students who have passed the 3-year B.Sc Degree examination with Mathematics as one of the subjects from a recognized University in the state or its equivalent are also eligible to apply.
  • Candidates who are currently pursuing their diploma course are also eligible for applying in the respective engineering or pharmacy course.
  • A minimum of 45% marks is required in the qualifying course for general candidates.
  • For reserved category students, minimum percentage required is 40%.

Application forms and submission procedure

Here is the gist of the steps involved in online application:

  • Fill the online form with correct details by registering on Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Anantapur.
  • Carefully fill all the personal and academic details.
  • Upload recently clicked coloured passport size photograph, thumb impression, and signature keeping in minds the size of the image.
  • Complete the payment process by using a preferred mode.
  • Keep the application form safely so that it can be used in the later process of selection.

Forms for AP ECET 2018 will be filled in online mode. The application will be available in the third week of February 2018 on the official website i.e. website of Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Anantapur. Applicants have to submit only one application. Multiple applications will lead to rejection of candidature.

The details filled in the application form should be according to the matriculation certificate. Any discrepancy detected will lead to rejection of the application. Candidates have to upload their scanned photo, thumb impression and signature in the prescribed format while registering for the examination.

The size of the passport size photograph should not exceed 30Kb whereas the size limit for the signature is 20Kb. Candidates have to take out the print out of the completed application form and keep it in good condition for future use.

The examination fees can be different for different courses. Here is the summary of the expected examination fees for application for Engineering and Pharmacy courses:

Candidates belonging to SC/ST category will be given concession in the examination fees. The fees can be paid at AP online centers in Andhra Pradesh. For details visit the official website and read the notification carefully.Examination fees can be paid using any one of the following methods:

Admit Card

Admit card for AP ECET will be released on the official website. Candidates have to regularly visit the official website for updates on downloading of the hall ticket. Admit cards are expected to be released in the last week of April 2018. Only those candidates will be issued admit cards who would have successfully completed the payment process.

Test city and center will be clearly mentioned on the admit card. In no case, the test city or the test venue will be changed. Candidates won’t be allowed to attempt the exam at any alternative center. Candidates have to carry a valid government-issued identity card to the examination center.

For downloading of the admit card, the registration number will be required. Therefore, candidates should carefully note down their respective registration number. Admit card will not be mailed to the candidate or no separate communication will be done regarding this. The admit card will bear the following information-

  • Roll Number
  • Name
  • Father’s Name
  • Photograph
  • Scanned Signature
  • Test City
  • Test center address
  • Test timings along with the reporting time
  • Conduct and pre-requisites for the examination

AP ECET is expected to be conducted in the second week of May 2018. The examination will be conducted only once. Hence, those candidates who won’t turn up for the examination will be automatically disqualified from the selection process.

Admission Procedure

Results of AP ECET 2018 will be declared in the first week of June 2018.

Candidates will be able to download their rank card from the website after the declaration of the result. Exam conducting body will prepare a merit list on the basis of candidate’s marks secured in the entrance examination.

Qualified students will be invited for the counselling for admission into various engineering and pharmacy colleges. Admission will be provided on the basis of scores in AP ECET. APSCHE will conduct web counselling for the qualified students. Helpline centers will be set up by the APSCHE to facilitate the concern of the candidates. Students must reach any one of these helpline centers for certificate verification.

Candidates have to complete the admission procedure by visiting the particular college and submitting the examination fees and other required documents. Application form, hall ticket, and the rank card are to be preserved until admission procedure is over.

Notification

The notification for APECET (Andhra Pradesh Engineering common entrance test) conducted by JNT University (Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Anantapur) on behalf of APSCHE will be published on the official site of the examination by the second week of February 2018 (tentative).

The syllabus of AP ECET usually comprises of topics from 11th and 12th standard science subject. The difficulty level of the examination is moderate to difficult.

APECET Results

The result of AP ECET 2018 will be announced by its conducting authority on its official website. The results are generally released by the second or third week of May each year. Candidates can download their rank card or scorecard from the website after the result declaration. The result will be a merit list which is prepared on the basis of the candidate’s performance marks secured in the entrance test.

Cut-Off

Around 32,900 candidates appeared for the AP ECET 2017 of which 30,877 candidates qualified the test. 25,146 boys and 5,731 girls qualified the AP CET 2017.The overall pass percentage of the test was 93.85%.

The qualifying percentage that a candidate must obtain in AP ECET is 25% aggregate in 4 subjects (This means minimum 50 marks out of a total of 200).

There are no minimum qualifying marks for ranking the candidates of SC/ST category. There is a certain benefit of relaxation given to the reserved category candidates.

Scores/ Rank of MH CET is valid for an academic year for which the candidate has given the entrance test. It cannot be used next year or as any other entrance test score.

APECET 2018 Counselling Schedule

The counselling is conducted in the 3rd or 4th week of June. Last time in 2017 it was conducted on 22nd June.

The qualifying candidates are called for the counselling session by email or letter on newspaper advertisement.  The candidates have to first register themselves by paying the fee for the counselling session.  Admission will be given to the candidate on the basis of the score rank that they have obtained in the test. The conducting Authority conducts the web counselling for the qualified students.  In the counselling session, students have to verify their documents and are allotted the seats.
