What is PESSAT?
TSICET or Telangana State Integrated Common Entrance Exam is an exam conducted by the Telangana state for admission into MBA and MCA courses. Started in 2015, this exam is a recent addition to the list of exams conducted in India and offers students numerous opportunities to pursue their education at various universities. All universities affiliated with the Telangana State Council of Higher Education give students admissions based on TSICET.

There are many other exams conducted by the Telangana State Council of Higher Education offering numerous opportunities to candidates residing in Telangana like EAMCET, PGECET, and ECET etc. Here are a few important details about this exam
Structure of PESSAT exam
The exam contains 200 questions in total and the exam is divided into 3 sections namely analytical ability, mathematical ability and communication ability. For every correct answer, the candidate is awarded 1 mark and there is no negative marking scheme followed. Each of the section has the following subsections:

The duration of the exam is 150 minutes. The cut-off marks for candidates belonging to the general category is 25% i.e. candidates have to score at least 50 out of 200 to qualify for admissions based on this exam. The cut off for other categories has not been specified.
PESSAT 2018 Eligibility Criteria
The following are the rules that every candidate applying for this exam should fulfill.
- All candidates should be citizens of India
- Candidates should satisfy the status requirements i.e. local and non-local status requirements laid down by the Telangana State Educational Institutions Order, 1974
- Candidates should score at least 25% in TSICET 2018
- Candidates in their final year of their bachelor’s degree are also eligible. However, their results should be out before they appear for TSICET counseling
- Candidates should have a bachelors’ degree in any stream from any recognized university
- Candidates should have scored at least 50% in their bachelors’ degree (general category), 45% for candidates belonging to the reserved categories
Application forms and submission procedure
The first and foremost step should be to visit the official website. In doing so, the applicants have to click on the ‘TS ICET 2018 Apply’ tab. This will take them to a page where they will have to pay the exam fees. The fee is Rs. 350 for candidates belonging to the general category.
For candidates belonging to the reserved category, the fee is Rs. 250. One way of making the payment is through credit card, debit card or net banking. Another way is to use TSOnilne/ AP Online/ e-Seva/ Mee Seva.
On successful payment of the fees, candidates can proceed forward with filling up the application form. The following are the details asked on the application form:
- Personal Details – Name, age, gender, email id, mobile number
- Educational Details – 10th Grade marks, 12th grade mark, bachelors’ degree details
- Work Experience (if applicable)
- Postal Address
- Contact Information
Next, candidates will have to upload the following documents:
- Scanned copy of a passport size photograph – the file size should be less than 30KB and should be in JPG format.
- Scanned copy of the signature – File size should be less than 15KB and this file should be in JPG format.
It is of extreme importance that candidates follow the rules imposed on the images that they upload. Otherwise, their application will be rejected.
Once all the above-mentioned steps are completed, the candidate can submit the application form. However, candidates are requested to note down the registration number and password for future reference. Additionally, it is also advised that candidates take a print out of the application form for future reference.
It should be noted that this exam is only conducted in a few places across the country, specifically only in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. The following is the list of test centers:

Admit Card
The admit card is usually made available during the last week of April. Candidates will have to give their registration number, password and date of birth to access the admit card. They need to check the details mentioned on the admit card and take a printout of the admit card. It is imperative that candidates bring the admit card with them while appearing for the exam. It is advised that the candidates keep this document safe until the admission process is over.
The following are the details mentioned on the admit card:
- Name of the candidate
- Gender
- Date of birth
- Venue for the exam
- Timings of the exam
Analogous with a hall ticket, candidates will not be allowed to write the exam if they do not bring the admit card with them.
Admission Procedure
Once the exam is conducted, the answer key is released. This gives students an opportunity to access their performance and make an educated guess on the score that they will get which further helps them to make a choice on colleges. The students can also raise an objection if they feel that the answer to a particular question is wrong. The results are announced during the last week of May and a rank list is prepared. Results will be published on the official website and candidates can access their results by giving their registration number and password.
All the candidates who have scored above 25% in the exam are eligible for counseling. Candidates are requested to make a list of the colleges that they are interested in while coming for the counseling session. It should be noted that 85% of the seats will be reserved for the local candidates i.e. residents of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The seat allotted to candidates will be based on the score of the candidate in TSICET and the availability.
The candidates will have to go through a document verification phase where the required documents will be checked by the authorities. This is usually the first step in counseling. The following are the required documents:
- Scorecard of the candidate
- Government ID proof – PAN Card Aadhaar Card, driving license or Passport
- 4 passport size photographs
- 12th grade mark sheet
- 10th grade mark sheet
Once the document verification process is done, candidates can choose their required course. Different universities have different fee split up. It is important for the candidates to take a look at the fee structure of their chosen course at their chosen university. Additionally, different universities have different modes of payment, a few universities will ask for a demand draft while others might ask for an online payment. It is a must that the candidates pay the fees within the stipulated amount of time or else they risk losing their seat to another candidate.
Once the payment of fees has been made, candidates can start attending classes. Usually, classes begin from the month of July.
Notification
The notification for the examination is expected to be released in the first week of March 2018. The official notification for TS ICET2018 can be downloaded by visiting the official website.
Syllabus
TS ICET 2018 will be conducted as an objective type entrance test in offline (OMR based) mode only. The duration of the entrance test will be of two and a half hours. There will be three sections in the question paper namely – Analytical Ability, Mathematical Ability, and Communication Ability.

PESSAT Results
The final result of TS ICET 2018 will be declared around the fourth week of May 2018. Candidates will be able to check their results and download their scorecard from the official website. After the conduction of the examination, candidates are expected to regularly visit the official website for updates regarding declaration of results and counselling process that will follow soon after the declaration of results.
Cut-Off
Students can have an idea of the cut-off of TS ICET 2018 by having a look at the previous year cut-off. Following cut-off list comprises of category wise cut-off. The cut-off varies from category to category. Mainly the cut off depends on these following factors:
- The number of candidates appearing in the TS ICET entrance exam all across the state.
- The difficulty level of the questions asked in the online test.
- The availability of seats in the institute.
- The number of applicants applying for TS ICET.
- Recent trends of cut-off.

Score Validity
The validity of the examination score stands for the particular academic year only. Hence, the validity of TS ICET 2018 score will be for the academic year 2018-19 only. Every candidate will get only one chance to appear for TS ICET for a particular academic year. Request for multiple attempts in any scenario will not be entertained by the admission directorate.

PESSAT 2018 Counselling Schedule
Candidates will be able to view their scores once the result is hosted on the official website. This score will be the basis of their selection in TS ICET. The scores can also be viewed by simply logging on to the official website.
After the successful conduction of TS ICET, the results will be declared around the fourth week of May 2018. Those candidates who will be scoring above the cut off mark will be shortlisted for counselling according to the order of merit.
Based on the merit list, candidates will be issued counselling letter for attending the counselling process. The mode of counselling process will be notified on the official website. Allotment list will be released on the official website after every round of counselling process. Candidates can check their status for admission from this list.
Candidates attending the counselling process have to ensure that they are in possession of all the required documents like:
- 10th class mark sheet and passing certificate
- 12th class mark sheet and passing certificate
- Graduation mark sheet and provisional/original degree
- Hall Ticket
- Score Card
- Counselling Letter
Hall ticket, Score Card, Counselling Letter must be preserved until the final process of counselling and seat allotment is over.
