About
National Institute of Technology Rourkela is one of the 31 NITs in India. Previously known as Regional Engineering College Rourkela, NIT is now a publicly funded institute for engineering, management, technology, and science. It granted autonomy from the Indian Government in 2002 and now works independently under the Ministry of Human Resource Development.
The school of management was first started in 2010 at NIT Rourkela and the total intake here is 75. MBA here is a 2years programme that provides four different MBA specializations including Finance, HR, Marketing, and Operations.
Candidates willing to apply here need to have a valid scorecard of CAT/MAT/XAT/CMAT. In 2021 NIT Rourkela was ranked 28 amongst the top management institutes of India by India Today.
Application Procedure
Candidates willing to apply at the National Institute of Technology Rourkela need to follow the given steps below to have a smooth admission process:
Step 1: Visit the official website of NIT Rourkela. See: https://eapplication.nitrkl.ac.in/Application/Registration.aspx
Step 2: Fill in all the details asked in the application form like name, email id, mobile number, DOB, etc. and set a password as well.
Step 3: Go back and login with the email id and password provided earlier.
Step 4: Select the MBA option under the programme and Regular under the admission category and click on Proceed tab.
Step 5: Pay the application fee of Rs. 500.

Pay the amount through SBI Collect. Visit: https://www.onlinesbi.sbi/sbicollect/icollecthome.htm
For Offline Payment
- Take out a printout of the application form.
- Go to the campus and submit the signed application form and the demand draft of the application fee at the campus of the School of Management, Rourkela, Odisha-769008 in a closed envelop under the name of “Admissions for MBA 2022-24”.

Step 6: Fill up and upload all the required documents. The documents include:
- 10th or 12th board certificate/mark-sheet for age proof
- Graduation pass certificate
- CAT/MAT/CMAT/XAT examination scorecard
- 3 recent passport-size photographs
- Reservation category certificate (if applicable).
- Migration Certificate
- Application for enrolment in AC/201 form.

The last date to apply at NIT Rourkela 2022 was February 15, 2022.
Selection Process/Admission Process
- The candidate willing to apply at NIT Rourkela must have a valid CAT/MAT/XAT/CMAT test score.
- Depending upon this score, the candidate will be selected for the next round which is the PI and GD round.
- The whole selection will be done on the basis of the entrance exam score, performance in the PI and GD rounds, and the candidate’s previous work experience and career marks.

Fee Structure
The fee structure for the first year of MBA at NIT Rourkela is Rs. 2,81,500 where Rs. 10,000 is caution money and is refundable. The fee for the second year is Rs. 2,67,000. The total fee for 2 years is payable at Rs. 5,48,000.

- The fees mentioned above need to be paid at the time of joining and at the beginning of the subsequent semester. No reduction in fees can be made by the institute.

Eligibility Criteria
The Eligibility Criteria for NIT Rourkela are as follows:
- The Candidate must have passed from any branch of BTech.
- Candidate must have a minimum of 6.5 out of 10 CGPA or 60% marks in their graduation. In the case of an SC/ST candidate, the applicant must have a minimum of 6.0 out of 10 CGPA or 55% marks
- Admissions are done on the basis of the entrance exams like CAT/MAT/CMAT/XAT thus the candidate must also have a valid scorecard of any of the examinations to be eligible.
- The is no relaxation in the NIT for any caste/category in any academic requirement. But there are seats reserved for the backward classes and underprivileged people of the society.

Cut-offs
The cut-off for general candidates at NIT Rourkela is 80% marks in the CAT examination. It is a bit lower for the reserved categories, i.e., acquiring 70-75% marks in the CAT.
