Doon University MBA

The Uttarakhand government founded Doon University in 2005, and it is situated in the verdant foothills of Shivalik. It offers a variety of undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral academic programs. There are 60 seats for the 2-year MBA program. It is ranked 13th out of 33 colleges in Uttarakhand and has a 73 percent acceptance rate. Additionally, it offers a weekend program called the Executive MBA with a total of 25 seats. Information System is one of the five specializations it offers. The application process for the program is currently open.

Application Procedure

The application process is available online on the university official website https://doonuniversity.ac.in/index.php/admissions/admission_procedure.

The filling of application form began on 16^th May, 2022 and it ended on 16^th June, 2022.The application fee is INR 800/- (INR 400/- only for reserved categories of Uttarakhand) and it is non-refundable. E-mail and phone number given at the time of registration cannot be changed. Applicants who cannot apply online can complete the online application process at the reception admission help desk in the administration block of Doon University. These candidates are required to bring all required documents and the fees.

Prior to application, candidates must look for eligibility criteria which include degree in either an accredited university or an equivalent university with at least 50% of students in the general category and at least 45% of students at SC ST. Additionally, entrance exam like CAT or MAT is also required.

Selection Process

Admission is purely based on merit scores. There are certain set of rules for admission process which include one must clear the entrance examination like CAT or MAT. Mat is preferred. Date of entrance test is first week of July, 2022. If the information provided by the student is found to be incorrect, the student's admission will be revoked as a result. If one fails to show their immigration or transfer certificate at the time of admission, admission will expire.

MAT examination is conducted in both online and offline form. The test work period is two and a half hours. There are 200 objective questions in MCQ format and is of easy to moderate difficulty. It is divided into 5 sections, each section having 40 questions. The sections are Language Understanding, Mathematical Skills, Data Analysis and Sufficiency, Intelligence and Critical Thinking, India and the Global Environment.

After clearing the entrance examination step, one should appear for GD and PI.

If one chooses for executive MBA, then they must appear for group discussion and personal interview round.

Final list will be declared and selected candidates can proceed for fees payment.

OTHER fare consists of medical ID, first aid, library fee, internet fee,etc.

For executive MBA- ?25000/- per semester must be paid

Mess charges are not included.

Uttarakhand SC / ST candidates pay 50% of tuition and other fees.

NRI students are required to pay an additional 15% Indian student fee.

• For executive MBA, a 3-year professional experience is also needed.

Placements

Placements start 2 months after completion of 2^nd semester examination.

The highest package was 10 LPA according to 2020.

The average placement is 4.5 LPA.

The major recruiting partners are Infosys, HDFC Bank, BHEL, Flipkart, TATA, Reliance digital, LBL, Wipro, Pantaloons, Airtel, TCS, British paints and much more.

Other international placement opportunity includes DBS Bank Ltd in Singapore & ANZ Bank in Australia. Both of them offered 10 LPA. Additionally, there are companies like Royal Bank of Scotland and American Express.

The university also has collaborations with Dr. Ambedkar Foundation, Taipei Economic and Cultural Centre in India (TECC), Taiwan, etc.

Doon University has multiple placement policy which means that before receiving his first confirmed offer from one company, each student may interview with as many companies as he wants. After accepting the initial offer, the student is given the opportunity to upgrade once more by accepting offers from up to two additional companies in the higher category, whichever offer comes first.

Scholarships

• Pandit Mahanand Dangwal (Kirti Nagar, Tehri Garhwal) Scholarship

The university has established approximately 8–10 scholarships worth Rs. 3000 per month for deserving students at Doon University based on means and merit, subject to performance evaluation on an annual basis in accordance with the approved guidelines, out of an endowment given by Shri Brijnandan Dangwal, Dehradun.

• e Scholarship of Social Welfare Department

The Social Welfare Department of the Government of Uttarakhand accepts applications each year for e Scholarships for SC/ST/OBC citizens of Uttarakhand who are enrolled in colleges or universities to further their education. • UGC Scholarships and Fellowships

Scholarships and fellowships are available through the University Grants Commission (UGC), which annually invites students enrolled in colleges and universities to submit applications.

• Students from the SC/ST categories who are residents of Uttarakhand are also eligible for a fee waiver of 50% from the university, which comes in addition to scholarships.
• Doon University Student Aid Fund (DUSAF)

The University set up the Doon University Student Aid Fund (DUSAF) using money from the student aid fee and contributions from organizations, individuals, the federal and state governments, charitable trusts, and other sources to help deserving and underprivileged students with their financial needs.

To sum up, if you want to pursue an MBA at a low cost, Doon University is a great school. It has incredible amenities like a library, sports facilities, a lab, a hospital, a hostel, etc. The cost per semester is 30000 INR. Additionally, university grants scholarships to deserving students. With more than 60% of students placed, the placements are also good.
