SASTRA - Shanmugha Arts, Science, Technology and Research Academy was established in 1984 in Thirumalaisamudram, Thanjavur. It is a private and deemed university which started its career as a Shanmugha College of Engineering affiliated with Bharathidasan University, Trichy. SASTRA was the first institution in the State of Tamil Nadu to get the "Deemed University Status". The Srinivasa Ramanujan Centre at Kumbakonam is attached to SASTRA. In 2011, TCS set a record of recruiting 1,755 students from SASTRA which is a world record for any company.

SASTRA University BTech Application Process 2022

Students can fill out application forms for BTech admissions at SASTRA Deemed University both in online and offline modes. The details of the BTech application process are given below.

Online

The steps that candidates should follow to fill out the BTech application form in online mode are given below.

1. Registration

• Go through the official website of the SASTRA Deemed University and click on the "SASTRA BTech Admission Link 2022".
• You can register yourself for BTech admissions by submitting your personal information.
• You will get a registration number and password on your registered email ID after the successful completion of the SASTRA Deemed University BTech admissions.

1. Login

• Candidates should log in to their accounts after registration. They should enter their academic, JEE details, etc.

1. Fee Payment

• Candidates must pay the SASTRA Deemed University application fee through an online mode of payment.

1. Uploading Documents

• Candidates should upload relevant documents such as photographs, and signatures in the prescribed size and format.

1. Application Form Submission

• Candidates should click on the "Submit" button to submit their BTech admission application form.

Offline

• To submit an application form for BTech admission in online mode, candidates should download the application form from the official website of the SASTRA.
• After downloading the form, candidates should fill it thoroughly and send it along with a DD of Rs. 650/- payable at SASTRA Deemed University, Tanjavur.

SASTRA University BTech Selection Process 2022

SASTRA Deemed University offers admission to all the BTech programmes on a merit basis only. The admissions for BTech/5-year Integrated MTech programmes will be handled through the following streams.

Stream 1 Admission

• Based on the scores of JEE Mains and normalised +2 marks, students will be admitted to 70% of the seats under this stream.
• The weightage in the merit list preparation for JEE Mains and +2 marks will be 25% and 75% respectively.
• The aggregate of JEE Mains score and normalized +2 will be taken into consideration according to the weightage. Students will be ranked based on the combined score of JEE Mains and +2.
• The combined score secured by the students in JEE and +2 will be used for determining the SASTRA rank.
• Admission to the BTech programmes will be based on the rank secured by the candidates.

Stream 2 Admission

• Based on their normalized aggregate marks in +2 or its equivalent, students will be admitted to BTech programmes under this stream. It is applicable for the remaining 30% of the seats in the BTech programme at SASTRA.
• To bring all the candidates from different boards on the same scale of comparison, the marks in +2 or its equivalent will be normalized.
• The first rank student of every board will be considered to have obtained 100% marks and the aggregate score of all other students of the board will be normalized with respect to the first rank student.
• A merit list will be prepared based on the normalized percentage to get admissions to the 30% of the seats of the BTech programmes.
• The rank list for BTech admissions will be published online on the website within 3 hours from the last date for application form submission.
• Students can access information related to BTech admissions counselling through SMS or a website.

SASTRA University BTech Eligibility Criteria 2022

The eligibility requirements that candidates should possess to become eligible for BTech admissions at SASTRA Deemed University are given below.

BTech

• Candidates must have passed +2 exam with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with either Biotechnology/Chemistry/Biology/Computer Science from a recognized State or Central Board or any other accepted by SASTRA as equivalent to 10+2 with an aggregate of at least 60% marks in a single sitting.
• Admissions to the Biotechnology/Bioengineering/Bioinformatics and 5-year Integrated MTech programmes will be based on the recent policy of AICTE which does not make Mathematics compulsory.
• The age of the students should not be more than 20 years as of 1^st August 2022.

BTech (Lateral Entry)

• Candidates must have completed a Diploma in Technology/Engineering to become eligible for direct admission to the second year of the relevant BTech programme.
• The age of the candidates should not be more than 21 as of 1^st August 2022.
