Kerala University

In Thiruvananthapuram, there is a state-level institution of higher learning called Kerala University. Kerala University is accredited with an "A+++" grade by NAAC and is recognized by the UGC. According to NIRF Ranking 2021, it is ranked 27th among the best universities in India. With more than 150 affiliated colleges, Kerala University offers a wide range of program, including UG, PG, and PhD courses along with various specializations. General management and travel and tourism are specializations offered in the two-year MBA program. Additionally, it offers evening classes, enabling working adults to continue their education. The application process is currently open.

Application Process

The application process for the university is online. One can visit the official website to register by clicking on http://admissions.keralauniversity.ac.in/

Steps needed to be followed are as follows-

• Online registration- Register by visiting the website linked above. After that, log in with the application number and password provided. Before starting the registration process, candidates are urged to enable "JavaScript." While registering, do not click the "back" button.
• Enter personal information- Candidates must enter their personal information, such as full name, address, phone number, qualifying degree scores, etc., after logging in. Students in their final year are also eligible. In the event of a mistake, an allotted time will also be given to correct them.

• Degree exam certificate
• Payment- After filling up the details candidates must pay the registration fees online. For unreserved category, registration fee is INR 750/- only and for reserved category it is INR 500/-. The fee is non-refundable. No DD is acceptable.
• Upload photograph and signature- Upload your scanned signature and photo in the site's designated format.
• Verification- After paying the application fee, the candidate can log in and change their information.
• Application print-The applicant must print out the application form for their records. This has to be presented upon admission. It is necessary to take this action.

Selection Procedure

Selection is based upon graduation scores and entrance examination. 80% seats of the university are reserved.

Step 1: application review

Candidates’ application will be reviewed by the board committee on the basis of graduation and entrance examination scores. Entrance examination is conducted by the university itself and candidates are presumed to download the admit card from official website only.

Entrance exams must be completed in a minimum of two hours and must include 60 multiple-choice questions worth 60 points and 40 descriptive-type questions worth 40 points that test subject knowledge from the qualifying examination and/or logical and numerical reasoning. 8 out of the 12 questions in the descriptive section are worth 5 marks each. With the exception of languages, English will be the examination medium. Negative marking of 0.25 is there for each incorrect answer.

Step 2: document verification

Candidates must appear at the university with copies of all required documentation, and the department head will check each document. If any errors are discovered in the document, he or she may withdraw the admission.

Step 3: group discussion and personal interview

Selected candidates will be called in for GD and PI. The locations for group discussions and interviews are fixed. Candidate's admission will be immediately revoked and the next person called if he or she does not arrive at the center by the specified date and time.

Final list will be prepared on the basis of all three steps and a merit list is published. Selected candidates can see their names on the, list and proceed to fees payment to secure their seat.

Fees Structure

Fees can be paid by students via net banking, eSBI, or NEFT.

For general MBA, fees is INR 17,485 per semester.

For tourism MBA, fees is INR 28,280 per semester.

Additional miscellaneous charges are not included in the aforementiooned fees.

Hostel details-

Students may submit applications if their homes are at least 40 KM away from the hostel (Except PWD candidate). Go to Kerala University's online payment site (https://pay.keralauniversity.ac.in) and pay the Rs. 55 application fee there.

Eligibility Criteria

• The candidate must be an Indian national. Relevant rules apply to candidates who are foreign nationals.
• Students who completed the 10+2+3 programme and earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Kerala, or a degree deemed to be equivalent thereto, and who have earned the following, shall be eligible for admission to PG programmes:

(a) CGPA of 2 or above on a 4-point scale

(b) 3.5 or above on a 7-point scale

(c) 5 or above on a 10-point scale

(d) 50% or above for Bachelor's degrees that award marks,

Candidates from the SC/ST category are subject to the following relaxation:

(a) a 4-point scale CGPA of 1.8 or higher

(b) a 7-point scale CGPA of 3.15 or higher

(c) a 10-point scale CGPA of 4.5 or higher

(d) a 45 percent or higher percentage for bachelor's degrees.

• Qualified entrance test.
• Candidates who have taken and are awaiting the results of the bachelor's degree examination may also apply.
• Any applicant who has previously been accepted into a graduate programme at the university in any subject is qualified to apply for admission to any graduate programme.

Students need to pass the entrance test conducted by the university.

Scholarships

Financial aid for students

Students in need are given financial aid by Kerala University through the Student's Aid Fund Scholarship. Students receiving this scholarship must have a family income of at least INR 25,000 per year.

The applicants must possess an income certificate from a parent who is employed, issued by a village official.

Group Personal Accident Insurance for Students (SGPAIS)

This scholarship programme pays for students' medical costs up to INR 25,000 in case of accidents and up to INR 1,000,000 in case of death claims. Each student will pay a premium of INR 25 for the scholarship.

Kerala University Merit Scholarships

The university also offers University Merit Scholarships to Postgraduate students who have First Class Bachelor's Degrees from the University Examinations taken right before the scholarship is awarded. Candidates who received a first-class on their first attempt at an examination in the past may also be taken into consideration if no eligible candidates emerged from the most recent University Examination. For 169 students over the course of two years, a scholarship worth INR 3000 will be given each year.
