Banaras Hindu University's Institute of Technology was established as the Banaras Engineering College in 1919. The Banaras Hindu University was established in 1916 as Central Hindu College. Banaras Engineering College was renamed the Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University (BHU) in 1968. Later in 2012, it was designated as the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Banaras Hindu University. The admissions to the BTech programmes at IIT BHU will be allocated through the rank secured by the students in the JEE Advanced. BHU is one of the public institutions that are declared an Institute of Eminence by the Indian Government.

Candidates have to appear and clear the JEE Advanced exam to secure admission at IIT BHU for BTech programmes and its application process is given below.

- Go through the official website of the NTA and press "CUET 2022 UG Registration" and proceed with the registration.
- Read all the instructions thoroughly and fill out the CUET registration form. Save the system-generated application number and password for future reference.

IIT BHU BTech Programmes
- Candidates should appear and qualify for the JEE Advanced first according to the IIT BHU admission process.
- Candidates should register to participate in the JoSAA Counselling after clearing the JEE Advanced exam.
- Candidates should choose IIT BHU as their first preference in the choice filling in the JoSAA Counselling.
- Students will be allocated seats after completion of the choice filling according to their merit and choices they have made.
- Candidates should visit the allocated college after the completion of seat allocation in the JoSAA Counselling.

- Candidates seeking admission to the BTech Food and Dairy Technology at Banaras Hindu University have to clear the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) conducted by the NTA.
- Candidates have to choose from Section II - Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics for getting admission to BTech programmes at Banaras Hindu University.
- The final merit list for BTech Food and Dairy Technology admissions at BHU will be done based on the scores secured by the candidates in Section II of the CUET exam.

BHU BTech Eligibility Criteria 2022
The BHU BTech eligibility criteria details are given below.
For BTech Dairy and Food Technology
- Candidates must have passed 10+2 or its equivalent with Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics or Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and Biology with English from a recognized board or institute with an aggregate of at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA in 10+2.
For All Other BTech Programmes
- Candidates must have passed 10+2 in the Science stream with an aggregate of at least 75% marks and are eligible for IIT BHU BTech admissions.
- Students belonging to the SC/ST category can apply even if they have secured an aggregate of at least 65% marks in 10+2 or its equivalent.
- Also, candidates should have qualified in the JEE Advanced.
