About the Institute

Directorate of Distance Education, Annamalai University was established in 1979 and offers more than 200 different programmes of study. It is credited with the largest enrollment in India and is well equipped with computer and other infrastructure, adequate teaching faculty and administrative set-up of its own, study centers, computer training centers, etc. Distance MBA by Annamalai University is pretty reputable when compared with other institutes.

The Directorate of Distance Education offers programs in Fashion Design, Textile Design, Interior Design, Hotel Management and Catering Technology Programs, Retail Management, Twinning Programme, Programs on Health Science, Yoga, Music, Fire, and Safety.

Approval

All the programs of study offered by the Directorate of Distance Education have been approved by Distance Education Council, New Delhi. The Directorate introduced the B.Ed. Programme through distance education mode from the year 2008-09 with the approval of National Council for Teacher Education, New Delhi.

Ranking

• Annamalai University was ranked 801–1000 in the world by the Times Higher Education World University Rankings of 2018 and 251–300 in Asia.
• Ranked in the 101–150 band overall in India by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) for 2018 and in the 101–150 band among universities.
• NIRF also ranked it 20 in its pharmacy ranking in 2018.

Spot Selection

Admissions are done through Spot Selection for all those who live near one of Annamalai’s many study centers. Selection for direct admission to all the courses shall be decided upon at the study centers. However, this mode won’t be applicable to Lateral Entry Programs.

Online Application

Along with completed applications, the candidate should also submit the registration fee through Demand Draft in favour of DDE, Annamalai University and payable at Chidambaram to the following address:

Admission through Post

For admission through the post, the candidate will require sending attested xerox copies of

• Mark list/Grade Certificates of the qualifying examination.
• Provisional/Degree Certificate of the qualifying examination.
• Passport size photograph should be affixed in the application at the appropriate space.
• Community Certificate for BC/BCM/MBC/DNC/SC/SCA/ST
• Proof of Date of Birth.
• Transfer and Conduct/Migration Certificate.
• Certificate of extracurricular activities.

Application fee

Annamalai University DDE Application Fee is:

• Application can also be had in Person on cash payment from the Directorate of Distance Education, all Study Centers of the Directorate of all days.
• Online applications can also be downloaded and submitted through Annamalai University Computer Training Centers (AUCTC) located at various centers in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.

Annamalai University DDE Fee Structure

Below mentioned is the Annamalai University Distance Education fee structure for various courses offered-

Fee payment is done only in online mode on the Online Payment System provided by Annamalai University. Fee payment for first and second installment of the year should be done before August 31 and January 31 every year respectively. Late fee fine is INR 200 per installment.

Fee Refund Policy

• If the Student leaves the ANNAMALAI UNIVERSITY before they complete their term period, there shall be no entitlement to a refund of paid service fees.
• Refunds, if applicable, at the discretion of the Management, will only be made to the debit/credit card used for the original transaction. For the avoidance of doubt nothing in this Policy shall require the ANNAMALAI UNIVERSITY to refund the Fees (or part thereof) unless such Fees (or part thereof) have previously been paid.

Courses Offered through Annamalai Distance Education

Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility for UG courses: Candidate should have passed 12th /intermediate or equivalent qualification from a recognized board.

Eligibility for PG courses: Candidate should possess graduate degree with minimum 55% and 50% for SC/ST marks from an affiliated university/ Institute.

Eligbility for Bachelor of Education (B. Ed.): Candidate should possess UG/PG degree or both with minimum 55% and 50% for SC/ST marks from an affiliated university/ Institute.

Scholarships

There are 3 types of scholarships offered for students:

Scholarship 1

Post Matric Scholarship- Applicable to Diploma in Nursing, UG/PG/M.Phil, Ph.D courses (other than professional courses) and student should have minimum 50% of marks in the previous year final exam and the annual income of guardian from overall sources should be maximum Rs.2 lakhs.

Scholarship 2 (Merit cum Means Scholarship)

Scholarship strictly based on merit basis. A student residing in a particular state/UT will be entitled for scholarship under the quota of that state/UT only irrespective of his place of study. This is applicable to degree and/or PG level technical and professional courses from a recognized institution. Student should have minimum 50% of marks in the previous year final exam and the annual income of guardian from overall sources should be maximum Rs.2.50 lakhs.

Scholarship 3

30% of the scholarship will be earmarked for girl students. In case sufficient numbers of eligible girl students are not available, then the balance earmarked scholarships may be awarded to eligible boy students.
