Annamalai University is a state public university located in Chidambaram, Tamil Nadu. It was established in 1928 by Rajah Sir Annamalai Chettiar. The campus spans nearly 1000 acres making it one of the largest residential universities in Southern Asia.

It offers a diverse range of courses across 10 faculties, including Arts, Science, Engineering, Medical, Management and Humanities. Institute has about 50 departments 3240 faculty members and over 32,480 students enrolled.

Annamalai University offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs. It accepts entrance exam scores like TNEA, TANCET and NEET for different courses including B.E, M.E/M.Tech, MBA, MCA, MBBS and BDS. University also administers its own entrance exams for pharmacy and PhD programs.

University is recognized by UGC and has received an 'A' grade accreditation from NAAC. It ranked 101 under the overall category by NIRF in 2023.

Annamalai University engages in joint research partnerships with 24 institutes worldwide. It has signed 40 MoUs with research partners including FAO, IRRI and USDA.

The university has a dedicated placement cell. In 2023, it reported placements for 811 undergraduate Agriculture students, 125 postgraduate Agriculture students, 473 BTech students, 18 MTech students, 74 Pharmacy students and 91 MBA students.
