Vellore Institute Of Technology (VIT UNIVERSITY) Vellore

Found in the year 1984 under G.Viswanathan, Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) is a private university which is located towards the outskirts of Vellore in Tamil Nadu with Vellore-Katapadi junction being the nearest railway station and Chennai being the nearest airport.

Affiliated by UGC, VIT with 20 undergraduate, 34 postgraduate, 4 integrated MS courses and 4 doctoral courses has been ranked 801-1000 by the Times Higher Education World University Rankings and 271-280 by the QS World University Rankings both in the year 2018.

They provide 15 schools of study namely SAS,V-PARC, SBST, SCALE, SCOPE, SELECT, SENSE, SITE, SMEC,SSL,DPE,VIT-BS,VIT-LS, providing higher education opportunities in hotel management and fashion.

Their main campus is located in Vellore with a land space of 250 acres, divided by the Chennai-Bangalore railway line and two other campuses at Andhra Pradesh known as Amaravati and the Bhopal campus.

Placement faculty offers opportunity mainly to the CSE and ECE departments.

How to apply

The VIT university offers Bachelors, Masters and Doctoral programmes on a number of levels: B.Tech, LLB, B.Arch, B.C.A, B. Sc, B.A.; M.Tech, M.Sc, M.B.A.; M.Phil, M.Tech research and Ph.D, in different streams of Engineering, Architecture, Computers studies, Hospitality, Management etc.

The application can be made through both online and offline methods:

Online method: Students can fill the online application form available on the website. The payment can be made after the application is duly filled with attachment of scanned passport sized photograph through net banking options.

Offline method: Forms are available at different VIT campuses and post offices at a rate of Rs 1200. A DD can be made too in the name of VIT University .After filling in the essentials, candidates must paste their passport sized photograph and keep a photocopy of the form for safekeeping.

Admission procedure

For most of the Undergraduate courses students must have a percentage ranging from 40-70% depending on the course selected. For admission into Postgraduate programmes students must have a minimum percentage of 60% in the relevant graduation degree. For P.hD the requirement is 60% marks in masters.

The B.Tech exam has a special criteria of added entrance exam scores, the university’s personal entrance exam called VITEEE is required.

For the B.Arch courses score in the National Aptitude Test in Architecture ( NATA) is prioritized.

Hostel and Facilities

HOSTEL

The institute provides hostel facilities for both boys and girls. There are about 28 hostels providing accommodation to 4,300 students all together. The institute provides single seater room, double seater rooms, four seater rooms and six seater rooms provided in AC and no-AC forms.

The hostel is fully Wifi enabled and has common room, TV room, etc. Certain other provision given at the hostel are as follows-

CAMPUS FACILITIES

The institute provides amenities such as scholarship for meritorious students and student with low family income. The college also provides campus placements in leading brands such as Amazon, Idea, etc.
