Why MARINE ENGINEERING?

Marine Engineering is a branch of engineering that deals with the nautical architecture. It is the study that includes the engineering of boats, ships and other marine structures. Marine Engineering includes the knowledge of mechanical engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science etc. It deals with the designing, constructing, operating and maintenance of the ship function.

Graduates of this field have a variety of job opportunities and roles like preparing the graphical representation of the project, inspecting equipment, conducting or analyzing the structures, installing and repairing of equipment, prepare plans and estimates, monitor functions, coordinate and communicate with other workers. Multi-tasking is a key trait which one must possess.

Candidate gets employed in companies involved in boat building, engineering, transportation, scientific institutions and agencies, etc. Hiring companies are both private and government.

There is no specific number of hours a Marine engineer works. They get to work in different situations, temperatures and environments. Marine engineers may be offshore for a long period of time in the ship. There is a lot of travel involved in marine engineering but there are jobs that require working at back offices.
