About Indira Gandhi Delhi Technological University for Women
Indira Gandhi Institute of Technology (IGIT), Delhi was established in 1998 by Department of Training and Technical Education, Government of Delhi. It is amongst the best engineering colleges in the state of Delhi. IGIT was the first constituent institute of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University. The institution was specifically established to impart Engineering Educationto women of the country, keeping in view the global technological developments and to meet the requirements of the Indian industry in the21st Century.
It is the first engineering college for women only. Till 2013, the college remained the first and only constituent college of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University. The upgradation of IGIT to University status has enabled it to function even more efficiently as a teaching and research centre in various branches of engineering. The institute was established by Directorate of Training and Technical Education, Govt. of N.C.T of Delhi. Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women (IGDTUW) was upgraded from Indira Gandhi Institute of Technology in May 2013.
