In the present scenario, Engineering is still in demand for the students who want to avail a technical degree/diploma. Gujarat is not having enough Engineering / Diploma colleges as compared with the other states of the country. In this situation, it becomes the responsibility of the financially sound registered management to seize the tasks of enriching Gujarat state with sufficient Engineering / Diploma colleges offering not only the Undergraduate Engineering diploma/degree but the Post graduate Engineering degree too. In the last decade, private registered managements of Gujarat have proved their ability to run self-financed technical colleges successfully. The Government of Gujarat has decided for setting up 12 Degree and 09 Diploma Engineering institutes under PPP mode.
Under this scheme, along with other organizations, Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) has been selected by the State Government as a partnering organization for Engineering College in Navsari District and Polytechnic in Anand District.
Accordingly, GIDC constituted the Society, namely 'GIDC Education Society' which has been registered as Society under the Society Registration Act, 1860 under Registration No. GUJ: 1769: Gandhinagar dated 14 - 07 - 2010 and also registered as Charitable Trust under the Bombay Public Trust Act, 1950 vide Registration No. F: 1723: Gandhinagar dated 14-07-2010
The GIDC Education Society, has now set up the Engineering College named as “GIDC Degree Engineering College at Village Abrama, Taluka Jalalpore, District Navsari, which is on the pattern of Self Financed Institutions.
The GIDC Education Society is committed for promotion and development of education in various fields and branches of Engineering, Management, Technology, Information & Communication and to carry out such other projects having similar objects.
The GIDC Education Society / Trust has been permitted to accept the donation which is exempted under the section 80(G) of the Income Tax Act.
Admission :-
GIDC Education Society through GIDC has constructed a College Building along with the required infrastructure like Laboratories, Library, Computers, Furniture etc.
All India Council of Technical Education, ( AICTE ) New Delhi has given the approval on 17-07-2012 to run five courses at the College from academic year 2012-13 with intake capacity of 60 in each stream:
