The Chotanagpur Law College is not a mere building – all concrete, iron, stone, bricks and mortar. It is much more than a material and physical reality. It was created by the devotion and zeal, the self-sacrifice and generosity of Late Barrister S. K. Sahay and men and women who gave their all for the best education of the people of this tribal region. Faith, hope and love have gone into its making; discipline, scholarship and service are its adornments. Chotanagpur Law College give India loyal, devoted and productive law abiding citizens. The Chotanagpur Law College makes a preferential option for the marginalised and it seeks to give an all-round formation, inculcating both human and spiritual values. Chotanagpur Law College is only a part of the vast educational efforts in India. The College was established in the year 1954 and was first affiliated to the Bihar University and thereafter the Ranchi University, Ranchi. It is entrusted by the University with the task of preparing students for degrees in Law. Our alumni have excelled in the legal world of the country.

Vision

Under the leadership of the Principal, an ambitious plan to revamp the whole curriculum was launched and through a process of deliberation and discussion, this ‘new vision for legal education’ was formulated and is slowly being brought into force. The central theme of this new vision is a shift from studying law primarily from textbooks, case law and statutes to experimental learning through direct engagement with problems of current concern to the society.

A new strategic focus on improving the professional quality of lawyers and law teachers across India, addressing legal dimensions of india’s response to globalisation.

Eligibility

Eligibility for Law courses (LLB, integrated LLB) at CLC -

1) 3 year Law Degree Course - A candidate who has graduated in any discipline from a recognized University can appear for L.L.B. course

2) Integrated Degree Program - Candidate must have passed 10+2 Higher Secondary Exam or an exam cosidered to be equivalnt to 10+2 Higher Secondary Exam can enrol for integrated degree program (LLB and a first degree in any other subject).

Candidates who have obtained 10+2 Higher secondary exam certificate or a graduate degree after taking up other courses through distance mode are also considered eligible for integrated degree course. But those candidates who have obtained 10+2 Higher secondary exam certificate or a graduate degree through distance mode or from open universities without any basic qualification are not eligible for admission into law courses.

Minimum marks for admission into law courses -

1) 40% for SC/ST candidates

2) 45% for other candidates

Admission Procedure

Admission will be based on a CLAT (Combined Law Aptitude Test).
