Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology is sponsored by the Govt. of India & Chandigarh Administration and is affiliated to the National Council for Hotel Management, Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India.

It was known as the food craft institute in its initial year and was established in the year 1973. It was upgraded to Chandigarh Institute of Hotel Management & Catering Technology w.e.f. academic year 2006-07.

It is an autonomous institute which is formed under a society which is registered under the Registration of Societies Act 1860 and as amended by Punjab Act 1957 on 25th Feb 1972.

Courses offered

One and a half yr. Diploma Programs in –

• Housekeeping   : 35 SEATS                                       
• Food Production    : 70 SEATS   
• Bakery & Confectionery: 30 SEATS
• Front Office : 35 SEATS
• Food & Beverage Service: 70 SEATS

The lush green campus of the institute accommodates 3 Professional Kitchens for Advanced for the basic food training, 300 seater Auditorium, Well equipped Bakery section, Class rooms with audio visual learning systems and various other facilities for the students.

Hostel and Facilities

Hostel

Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology is spread over a 3 acre campus with separate in-campus housing facilities for boys and girls. The boys hostel can accommodate more than 150 students whereas the girls hostel has student intake capacity of 65.

The students have to opt for rooms on triple sharing basis. There is a separate mess facility in each hostel. There is a hostel warden in charge of the hostel administration to ensure student discipline and safety.

There is round the clock strict security measures with a no outsider policy. There is 24 hours power back up and water supply available.

Other Facilities

The institute offers other facilities such- world class food workshops and laboratories, computer labs with all-time internet access, library, cafeteria and transport services.

There is a 24 hours medical service available with tie-up with multispecialty hospitals in the city.
