What is TS LAWCET LAW?

Telangana State Law Common Entrance Test (TS-LAWCET) is a common entrance test for admission of candidates to 3-year and 5-year LLB courses all around Telangana.

Every year the exam is conducted by different universities on behalf of the Telangana State Council for Higher Studies (TSCHE). TS LAWCET 2018 will be conducted by Osmania University and TS LAWCET 2017 was conducted by Kakatiya University.

The Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE) came into existence by the Order of the State Government of Telangana in 1988.

Structure of TS LAWCET LAW exam

TS LAWCET is an offline paper-pencil examination which is scheduled on a particular day, once every year. All questions are objective in nature. The duration of the examination will be 90 minutes.

There are two exams for TS LAWCET i.e TS LAWCET Paper I for 3-year LLB and Paper II for 5-year LLB programme.

The question paper consists of 120 multiple choice questions, with four choices for each question.

The question paper is divided into three parts:

  • General Knowledge and Mental Ability (Part A)
  • Current Affairs (Part B)
  • Aptitude for Study of Law (Part C)

Part-A and Part-B have 30 questions each and Part-C 60 questions that makes a total of 120 questions. All questions are compulsory and the time limit is 90 minutes.

Each question when answered correctly grants one mark. There is no provision for negative marking.

The medium of examination is Telugu and English.

TS LAWCET LAW 2018 Eligibility Criteria

The Eligibility Criteria for a candidate to appear in TS LAWCET is as follows:

For Paper-I

  • Candidate should be a graduate from any recognized university with atleast 45% aggregate marks.
  • Candidates belonging to SC/ST categories must have secured atleast 40% aggregate marks in their qualifying degree.
  • The candidate should be a minimum of 21 years.
  • Candidate should be a citizen of India.

For Part-II

  • The candidate should have passed his/her Class 12th from Telanagana Board of Intermediate or any other board.
  • He/she should have atleast score 45% (aggregate) marks

A 5% relaxation is provided to students belonging to SC/ST categories.

Application forms and submission procedure

The application form for TS LAWCET 2018 will be available on the official website by the 3rd week of March.

The application process is done completely online, by filling the application form with the required details.

Applicants can check their application status by logging in the website using the credentials provided upon successful submission of filled application form.

Let’s look at the application process step by step:

Step-1: Click on the TS LAWCET application form by visiting the official website.

Step-2: Candidates are to be provided a valid e-mail and phone number to register in the website.

Step-3: A User ID and Password will be sent to the provided e-mail and phone number.

Step-4: Candidates should then log in using this User ID and password.

Step-5: Upon logging in, an application form will be provided which needs to be filled in with the required information (qualification, exam center, etc)

Step-6: Afterwards candidates have to pay fees either online or offline,

Step-7: Candidates are advised to keep a print out of application form for future reference.

TS-LAWCET Application Fee

Steps to pay the exam fee:

Online Payment:

Step-1: Candidates need to click on “Click here to pay online using your Debit card/Credit Card” on the registration fee payment procedure page.

Step-2: Candidates will be then taken to the payment gateway where all necessary card details (Card type, CVV number, OTP, name, etc)

Step-3: Upon successful payment, a payment reference ID and transaction ID will be generated which the candidates are advised to note.

Offline Payment:

Step-1: Candidates need to visit any of the TS Online Centres with following documents; mark list of qualifying examination, date of birth certificate.

Step-2: Candidates then are to provide the required details and pay the fee for a receipt which contains a Transaction ID.

Step-3: Candidates then need to log in on the website and click “Click here if paid through TS” on the payment procedure page.

Step-4: Candidates will need to enter their TS Online Transaction ID, their name, Mobile Number and Date of Birth.

The fees structure varies for candidates from a different category. The list is mentioned below.

As stated earlier, the mode of application is online where applicants have to register themselves in the official website of TS LAWCET.

The application portal is currently closed and will be made available by the 3rd week of March. Candidates have to fill the prescribed details in the application form.

While filling in the application form, candidates are advised to keep a set of important documents so that there’s no hurdle. Following are the documents needed:

  • Marksheet of 10th and 12th standard that contains hall ticket number.
  • Certificate containing Date of Birth (Birth Certificate, SSC etc)
  • Certificate of income of parents.
  • Certificate proving residential or non-residential status.
  • Certificate of special category if applicable (NCC, PH, etc).
  • Certificate of caste if belonging to reserved category.

Candidates are advised to keep a print out of the complete application form, after submitting it on the website for future reference. The official website of the exam is not available yet, but the examination will be held on 25th May 2018.

Admit Card

 

Admit Cards will be available on the official website by the 3rd week of May.

All candidates who have successfully filled TSLAWCET Application Form will be eligible to download the hall ticket. It has to be downloaded from the official website of TS LAWCET. This can be done by following the steps mentioned below:

  • Visit the official website of TS LAWCET
  • Login using the Registered ID and Password issued at the time of registration
  • Click on ‘Download Hall ticket’ link
  • Enter Application Number and Date of Birth
  • TS LAWCET Admit Card would appear on the screen
  • Take its print out

The admit card would contain the following details-

  • Language of the paper
  • Exam center, date & time slot of exam
  • Roll number
  • Photo and name of the candidate
  • Name of candidate’s parents
  • Program applied for

 

All details are to be checked and if there are any mistakes, candidates should immediately contact the official authority.

Admission Procedure

 

The results for TS LAWCET will be declared on the official website by June 2018.

Candidates will be ranked based on the marks scored. The results can be obtained by providing the hall ticket number. For a candidate to be eligible for admission procedure, the TSCHE (Telangana State Council for Higher Education) has set minimum qualifying marks.

Following is the criteria:

  • The qualifying marks for General category are expected to be 35% i.e 42 marks out of 120.
  • There are no criteria of minimum qualifying marks for SC/ST category students.

After the declaration of results, the counselling and selection process will start. Candidates must be present for counselling to secure admissions in colleges. Candidates must bring important documents for the verification process.

Following are the important documents:

  • Result card of TS LAWCET
  • Admit Card of TS LAWCET
  • Mark sheet of 10th and 12th standard
  • Marksheet of qualifying degree
  • Residence proof
  • Transfer Certificate from the previous institution
  • Income certificate of the family if the income of parents is below INR 2,00,000
  • Colored passport size photographs
  • Certificate of caste, NSS, Sports, etc

TS LAWCET Certificate Verification Process Check

  • Candidates should visit Counseling Centers as per given scheduled dates with original documents
  • Candidates will be called for registration rank-wise, where they have to make payment.
  • Candidates should submit their documents, copies of certificate and a valid mobile number.
  • A receipt of the submitted documents will be given.
  • Candidates are requested to check the given receipt for mistakes if any they should contact the counselling head immediately.

After successful verification of certificates, candidates will then have to provide their preferences for admission to various colleges. This is done by logging into the official website.

NOTE-

The Candidates who are not satisfied with first phase allotment of TS LAWCET and candidates who haven’t appeared in the 1st phase will be eligible to appear for TS LAWCET 2nd Phase Web Based Counselling for Excise Web Option Entry and Certificate Verification.

Based on the preferences and rank card, candidates will be allotted to various colleges around Telangana.

Notification

Although no particular notification was released, it was however announced that the Telangana LAWCET 2018 would be held on 25th May, 2018. The application procedure is yet to begin.

Syllabus

The TS LAWCET is broadly divided into three different section where one section has a weightage of 60 marks (PART-C) while the other two have a weightage of 30 marks. All question will be at an intermediate level.

General Knowledge and Mental Ability
  • This section will basically cover logical reasoning as well as general awareness.
  • The topics syllogisms, logical sequences, analogies, completing arguments, drawing well-supported conclusions, reasoning by analogy, applying principles or rules are covered under logical reasoning.
  • There are also analytical reasoning questions where logical conclusions must be drawn.
Current Affairs
  • This section covers trending news topics and current affairs. It will require candidates to stay up to date.
  • The topics include history, geography, general science, economics, civics and current affairs.
Aptitude for study of Law
  • This section tests the candidate’s legal aptitude i.e. knowledge about laws and the Constitution and such.
  • A candidate’s knowledge towards study of law, research aptitude and problem-solving ability.

AP LAWCET LAW Results

No information regarding the declaration of the results for TS LAWCET 2018 have been released yet. However, whenever the result is released, it will be released on the official website. Last year, the result was declared on June 10th.

Cut-Off

The cut-offs for the TS LAWCET vary based on the category of the student. They also vary based on the college. Let us look at some cutoffs of different colleges last year.

The cut-offs will vary as such for each category. On the completion of all candidates filling in their web options, these cut off ranks are declared.

Score Validity

The TS LAWCET Score is valid for duration of one year. This means, on attempting the TS LAWCET 2018, a candidate who qualifies will be eligible for admission in the concerned colleges for the academic year 2018-2019.

Reservation/Seat Distribution

There is a total of 22 participating colleges in the TS LAWCET counselling procedure. Of these 22 colleges, 6 of them are universities. Candidates are offered three year as well as five-year programs. The seat distribution last year was:

  • 3190 seats for 3 year LLB course (it should be noted that 3070 seats are for LL.B and 120 seats are for LL.B Honors)
  • 1480 seats for 5 year LLB (1120 seats for BA.LL.B., 240 seats for BBA.LL.B., 120 seats for B.Com.LL.B)

After obtaining the TS LAWCET Rank, there are two more steps in order to gain admission into one of those colleges.

Step-1

First, there is a certificate verification process post which there is a web counselling process.

Candidates will be called for counselling registration and document verification rank-wise.

Candidates will have to produce the list of original documents for verification approval as well as submit their Xerox copies to the verification officer. Some important certificates that should be carried are:

  • Rank Card
  • Hall Ticket/ Admit Card of TS LAWCET 2017
  • SSC or equivalent marksheet
  • Intermediate or equivalent marksheet
  • Qualifying Examination marksheet
  • Provisional/Degree Certificate of Qualifying Examination if completed degree
  • Local or Non-Local residence proof
  • Community or Caste Certificate
  • Transfer or Migration Certificate
  • Income Certificate of parents
  • Sports/PH/NCC/CAP Certificate if applicable

Candidates should also provide their valid mobile number during the verification process so they can be further contact.

Step-2

After this, the web counselling process will begin. In this process the list of available colleges, courses and course type combinations will be shown and the candidate will have to rank these colleges based on their priority. On being satisfied they can confirm these options.

An allotment process then happens as per the given priorities. Candidates will then be able to download the provisional allotment letter. In case the candidate isn’t happy with their allotment, they can go through a second phase of counselling as well.
