Mizoram University is a central university located in Aizawl, established in 2000. It is a public institute. The campus spans approximately 978 acres.

University offers many courses across its 39 academic departments. These departments provide undergraduate postgraduate and PhD programs under 10 schools of study. It also has a Centre for Distance and Online Education for distance learning.

The student body consists of 3,400+ students supported by 260 faculty members. Mizoram University has 40 affiliated colleges and one constituent college.

Facilities on campus include a central library, hostels, a central instrumentation laboratory, an engineering workshop, a sports complex, an amphitheater and a museum.

For admissions the university conducts its own entrance exam the Mizoram University Entrance Exam (MZUEE). It accepts scores from national-level entrance exams, including CUET UG, CUET PG, JEE Main, NATA and GATE, for specific courses.

Mizoram University is recognized by University Grants Commission of India. It has received an 'A' grade from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). University is affiliated with Association of Indian Universities (AIU).

In terms of rankings, Mizoram University holds 76th position among top 100 universities in India according to NIRF 2023. It was ranked 101 out of 200 colleges in India in 2023 and within 101-150 range in 2022 by NIRF.

Placements - The university reports decent placements for courses like MBA, MCA and BTech. The highest package during recent BTech placements stood at INR 14 LPA while the average package was INR 4.80 LPA.
