Pondicherry University is a Central University in Pondicherry, established in 1985. It is recognized by the UGC and approved by AICTE, NICTE and DEB.
The campus covers 780 acres and is Wi-Fi enabled. It accommodates 15 Schools, 39 Departments, 12 Centres and 1 Chair.
University offers over 150 programs at undergraduate, postgraduate, PG diploma, integrated PG and PhD levels. It has more than 100 affiliated colleges and 11 research institutes. The student population exceeds 7100 including 53 international students and the faculty consists of over 311 members.
Facilities for students include separate hostels for boys and girls, a cafeteria, sports amenities, an auditorium, a library and transportation services. There is also a Central Instrumentation Facility.
Admissions primarily depend on the merit rank in the CUET exam along with a counseling process. The university also accepts scores from different national-level entrance tests like CAT, GATE, UGC, NET.
Pondicherry University has received an 'A' grade accreditation from NAAC. It is ranked #1201-1400 in the QS World University Rankings 2024.
According to NIRF data for 2024 1,925 out of 3,362 graduates secured placement offers. Median salary offer for undergraduate students was Rs 3.10 Lakhs while for postgraduate students it was Rs 6.50 Lakhs.
