SRM Dental College, Ramapuram was established in 1996 under Valliammai society. It was the first among dental colleges to earn a deemed university status in 2002. The college was rated by the Outlook Magazine as the 11th best dental college in the whole of India and the best college in Tamil Nadu in 2012. It is an ISO:9001:2008 certified institution.
SRM dental college was started in the year 1996-1997 and has been reputed to maintain excellent standards of dental education since inception. It is currently affiliated to SRM University of health sciences which the first institute in India to acquire the status of was deemed university in the year 2002.
The college is located in the heart of the city and is sprawling over a large area of over 5.18 acres with a built up area of 4, 74,582 sqft. The campus is lush green throughout the year and environment friendly.
The college aims at imparting excellent knowledge and skills to the students at undergraduate and post graduate levels and promotes the application of current technology and concepts in the practice of dentistry. The institute promotes research and has Post Doctoral programmed in all fields of dentistry. It is a centre for academic excellence and has been ranked as one of the 15 best dental colleges in India. The college is recognized by the Dental Council of India, NAAC accredited and is an ISO 9001:2008 certified institution.
The institution has a self governing body with a distinct academic cell and Research Cell that work under the able guidance of the Dean and the Vice Dean. An Anti ragging committee is continually on vigilance for the safety of the students to prevent any untoward incidents.
SRM Dental College has state of art infrastructure with 40 labs, 10 classrooms and 486 dental chairs in various clinical departments providing the students best learning opportunities.

Eligibility
To pursue MDS at Srm Dental College students must satisfy one of the following eligibility criteria-
1) Candidate has completed a 3 year course in BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery) from a recognized university.
2) Candidate who has completed a 2 year PG diploma approved by Dental Council of India are eligible to pursue a MDS course in the same discipline.
Admission Procedure
Please note that in a non-governmental institutes, 50% of the seats will be filled by management of the institute. Academic merit should be considered while granting admission under management quota. Rest 50% seats will be filled by competent authority based on the academic merit of the candidate.
Academic merit of a candidate will be determined based on the performance in competitive exam conducted by the state governemnt or competent authority or centralized competitive exam conducted at the national level.
Candidate must score at least 50% marks in the competitive exam. For SC/ST/OBC candidates the minimum percentage required is 40%.
Performance in first, second and third year of BDS exam can be considered to determine the academic eligibility of the candidate.
