Fee Structure of Gauhati University, Guwahati, Kamrup

1. National Scholarship Scheme:

• Applicable to: Undergraduate and postgraduate students who belong to minority communities or have merit cum means.
• Expenses covered: Varies from Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 25,000 per annum.
• Eligibility: Based on academic and financial backgrounds.

1. Gauhati University External Fellowship:

• Applicable to: PhD students pursuing research in areas of national importance or social relevance.
• Expenses covered: Rs. 25,000 per month plus a contingency grant of Rs. 10,000 per annum.
• Eligibility: PhD students.

1. Visvesvaraya Fellowships:

• Applicable to: PhD students pursuing research in engineering and technology.
• Expenses covered: Rs. 31,000 per month plus a contingency grant of Rs. 15,000 per annum.
• Eligibility: PhD students.

1. MHRD-DRDO Fellowship:

• Applicable to: PhD students pursuing research in defense-related areas.
• Expenses covered: Rs. 31,000 per month plus a contingency grant of Rs. 15,000 per annum.
• Eligibility: PhD students.

1. Internal Fellowships:

• Applicable to: PhD students not eligible for any external fellowship.
• Expenses covered: Rs. 18,000 per month plus a contingency grant of Rs. 10,000 per annum.
• Eligibility: PhD students.

1. International Students Scholarships:

• Applicable to: International students seeking admission through the Admission to Alumni (A2A) website.
• Expenses covered: Tuition fees, living expenses, airfare and medical insurance (sponsored by the Government of India through the Indian Council for Cultural Relations).
• Eligibility: International students .

The university has a total of 24 student hostels, with 12 each for boys and girls. There are also three hostels specifically for research scholars.

For a single-seater room, the hostel admission fee is Rs. 4430, while for a double or three-seater room, the fee is Rs. 3590. 

Hostel Fee Structure - 

Meal charges are not included in hostel fees. Food facility is available but students need to pay separately for it.
