BGSBU offers undergraduate postgraduate and doctoral programs. University has different schools, including Engineering and Technology, Management Studies, Mathematical and Computer Science, Education, Biosciences and Biotechnology, Social Sciences, Nursing and Biomedical Sciences and Islamic Studies and Languages. Undergraduate courses include B.Tech, BE, BBA, BA (Hons) and BEd Postgraduate courses include M.Sc, MCA, MBA, MA and MEd It also offers M.Phil and PhD programs.
Admission to BGSBU is through entrance exams. For undergraduate and postgraduate courses the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) is the basis for admission. The university is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and has accreditation from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). It is approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).
BGSBU ranks 35th among India's Best Government Universities. It was also ranked 6-25 for Overall by NIRF Innovation in 2020. The university collaborates with many international institutes for student exchange.
The university provides a library, hostels for boys and girls, a health center, a gymnasium and a banking facility.
