Dispur Law College Was established in the year 1993. Aspiring to impart quality legal education, the college started functioning at the Gopal Boro Govt. H.S. School, Dispur, on 1st of February 1994. With the donation of the land neighboring to the historic Secretariat Building of Assam, by Smti Madhuri Das, wife of Late Dharmananda Das, I.A,S. (Retd), then Chief Secretary to the Govt of Assam and Sri Dalim Chandra Pathak, Advocate, the College was able to construct its own building. The foundation stone of the college building was laid by the then Chief Minister of Assam Karmashri Late Hiteswar Saikia on 9th March 1995. Since 1995, the college has been holding classes in its own building.

Almost with the two decades of experiment and experience, the College is thriving towards an excellent legal institution in the whole of North Eastern region. Dispur Law College’s outstanding faculty and extraordinarily gifted students and alumni, its prodigious resources and its prime location at the heart of the Capital of Assam, Dispur, all contribute to its leading role role in the regional legal education. The college today continues to be an exceptional institution with top position in rank from Guwahati University exclusively inspiring for the students of law. DLC aims at pioneering the legal aspirant with the sprit of competitiveness and innovativeness, enriching their knowledge and elevating their self-confidence and thereby expecting to have manifold qualities and knowledge not only of law but also of other disciplines which have relevance in understanding the socio-economic and political realities of the world at large.

Permanently affiliated to the Guwahati University , the college has also been accorded approval to all classes for Three Year and Five Year (integrated) L.L.B. course by the Bar Council of India. The College has received Govt. concurrence and no objection certificate along with assistance for the session 2014-2013 from the Government of Assam.

Located at the proximity of the Assam Secretariat Building, The College is well connected to the GS Road.

Admission Procedure (5 Year Integrated Course)

  1. Application for admission into the college shall be made in prescribed admission form issued by the College Office.
  2. Application form, duly filled in, and accompanied by copies of all testimonials and documents as prescribed, must reach the college on or before the last date as notified . Incomplete from shall not be entertained. Applications received after last date shall be rejected.
  3. Applicants shall appear in person before the Admission Committee for interview and admission on the appointed date and time.
  4. Admission into the college is made strictly in order of merit and admission test and is governed by the College Admission rules. All admission shall be made with the prior recommendation of the Admission Committee.
  5. Candidates are required to produce at the time of interview/admission the original copies of

(a) Certificates and Mark sheets of H.S.L.C. and HSSLC Examination

(b) Age Certificate.

(c) Character Certificate from the Head of the Institution last attended.

(d) Cast Certificate, wherever necessary

(e) 2 copies of passport size photograph.

  1. Admission Committee shall have every right to refuse admission in appropriate cases.
  2. In case of submission of forged documents or suppression of Material facts by a student, detected even after admission, his/her admission stands cancelled.

Scheme of Admission (For 5 Year)

  1. An admission test shall be conducted, if required, as per the schedule to be notified.
  2. The admission test will be held on the date notified for the subjects mentioned below.

(a) General English30 Marks

(b) General Knowledge 30 Marks

(c) Legal Aptitude30 Marks

(d) Personality10 Marks (Total 100 marks)

Fee Structure

Course fee includes Tution fee, Admission fee, Library fee, University Affiliation fee, College Development fund, internet charges, Electricity Charges, Magazine Fee Etc.

The fee may be revised at any time at the discretions of the College.

The University Registration Fee, examination fee etc are required to be paid as per Gauhati University rules.

Eligibility

Eligibility for Law courses (LLB, integrated LLB) at Dispur Law College, Dispur -

1) 3 year Law Degree Course - A candidate who has graduated in any discipline from a recognized University can appear for L.L.B. course

2) Integrated Degree Program - Candidate must have passed 10+2 Higher Secondary Exam or an exam cosidered to be equivalnt to 10+2 Higher Secondary Exam can enrol for integrated degree program (LLB and a first degree in any other subject).

Candidates who have obtained 10+2 Higher secondary exam certificate or a graduate degree after taking up other courses through distance mode are also considered eligible for integrated degree course. But those candidates who have obtained 10+2 Higher secondary exam certificate or a graduate degree through distance mode or from open universities without any basic qualification are not eligible for admission into law courses.

Minimum marks for admission into law courses -

1) 40% for SC/ST candidates

2) 45% for other candidates

Admission Procedure

Admission will be based on a CLAT (Combined Law Aptitude Test).
