The Bishop Cotton Women’s Christian Law College is the only college in India, which offers 5 year Integrated Law Course, exclusively for women imparting legal education. B.B.A. LL. B course will be started from 2012 – 2013.It also offers 3 year LLB Course for the graduates. Five batches of students have stepped out of our College with flying colours

The college is managed by the Board of Management of Karnataka Central Diocese, Church of South India. The Bishop in Karnataka Central Diocese of the Church of South India is the Chairman of the Board. Mrs. A. P. Porkodi is the first and current Principal.

To instill the values of the cause of women more in the minds of young girls and to empower them, this exclusive institution for legal education was inaugurated on 14th July 2002.

Recognition, Affiliation and Management

The Bishop Cotton Women’s Christian Law College is recognized by the Government of Karnataka, affiliated to Bangalore University till 2008-09 and from 2009-10 affiliated to Karnataka State Law University and approved by the Bar Council of India. The College is managed by the Board of Management of Karnataka Central Diocese of Church of South India.

Admission :-

Eligibility

Bishop Cotton Women's Christian Law College provides the following courses:

  • 5 year Integrated BB.A.LL.B
    Eligibility : PUC, 12th standard with 45% (for SC/ST 40% marks).
  • 5 year Integrated BA.LL.B
    Eligibility : PUC, 12th standard with 45% (for SC/ST 40% marks).
    from Vth semester to Xth semester (2012-2013 to 2015 to 2016).
  • Three year LL.B
    Eligibility : Graduate of any discipline from a recognized university with 45% marks (for SC/ST 40% marks)

Admission Procedure :-

  1. Application in the prescribed form should reach the Principal on or before the specified date along with a DD of Rs. 450/-.
  2. Copies of the following documents should be sent along with the application.
    • Proof of age
    • Community Certificate (in case of SC/ST/OBC candidates)
    • Church affiliation Certificate (If Christian)
    • Transfer Certificate (from the Institution last studied)
    • Statement of Marks in the qualifying examination.
    • Migration Certificate (If the candidate is from other State or Country)
    • 5 Passport Size Photographs (one should be affixed in the application)
    • 6 Self addressed envelopes with Rs 10/- Stamp.
  3. Only attested copies of the certificates should be enclosed. Original certificates should be produced at the time of admission.
  4. The candidates selected for admission should pay the prescribed fees and produce original certificates on or before the date specified. Admission will be closed as soon as the authorized seats are filled up.
  5. FEES PAID ON ADMISSION WILL ON NO ACCOUNT BE REFUNDED.
  6. All admissions are provisional and are subject to the approval of the Karnataka State Law University.
  7. Those who discontinue the course in the middle have to pay the fees for the entire course ( 5 Year B.A. LL.B, 5 year Integrated B.B. A. LL. B or 3 year LL.B ) before taking transfer certificate as the vacancies created by them cannot be carried through and an undertaking should be given to this effect.

Eligibility

Eligibility for Law courses (LLB, integrated LLB) at BCWCLC -

1) 3 year Law Degree Course - A candidate who has graduated in any discipline from a recognized University can appear for L.L.B. course

2) Integrated Degree Program - Candidate must have passed 10+2 Higher Secondary Exam or an exam cosidered to be equivalnt to 10+2 Higher Secondary Exam can enrol for integrated degree program (LLB and a first degree in any other subject).

Candidates who have obtained 10+2 Higher secondary exam certificate or a graduate degree after taking up other courses through distance mode are also considered eligible for integrated degree course. But those candidates who have obtained 10+2 Higher secondary exam certificate or a graduate degree through distance mode or from open universities without any basic qualification are not eligible for admission into law courses.

Minimum marks for admission into law courses -

1) 40% for SC/ST candidates

2) 45% for other candidates

Admission Procedure

Admission will be based on a CLAT (Combined Law Aptitude Test).
