Indian Institute of Crop Processing Technology was formerly known as the Institute of crop processing technology. It is a pioneer educational and research and development institute which was formed under the ministry of food processing industries. The institute was formed in the year 1967, as a research and development laboratory in the Modern Mill complex of Thanjavur Co-operative Marketing Federation.
The campus is located in the Thanjavur to Pudukkottai Highway on a 15-acre campus land which is located 2 km from Thanjavur New Bustand. The campus provides a great ambience for the students and accommodates all the basic infrastructure for providing all the basic amenities to the students.

Hostel and Facilities
Hostel Facility
Indian Institute of Crop Processing Technology – Thanjavur has facility of boys hostel as well as girls hostel. The hostel rooms have the cot, study table, chair and almirah. Apart from that, the hostel also has a connection to water, electricity and internet.
Each hostel has recreation area, TV and music room too. The mess has a modern kitchen and spacious dining hall. The hostel mess provides cooked food to the students, the food served by the mess is healthy and hygienic.
Other Facilities
This college has a big library with huge collection of books, CDs and DVD’s. Besides that, there are well organised and well equipped separate labs. The college encourages sports and provides various indoor and outdoor sports facilities such as carom, badminton, football, cricket, volleyball etc.
The students of this age-old institution take part in various sport, cultural and literary activities. They participate in several inter-college competitions, inter-university competition and even in state-level competitions.
