Our College is founded in 1968 with the munificent donation of 10 acres by our late founder Chairman Shri.Nanalal Bhatt and Rs.6 lakhs donation by Cork Industries Charities Trust. The College is named after our Late Founder Chairman’s beloved wife Shrimathi Devkunvar. Our Founder’s impeccable spirit, philanthropy and the untiring support of well wishers paved a way to shape this college excellently. The college is started with a vision to impart quality education to cater to the needs of all strata of students especially to serve the economically weak and socially deprived students.

The college started unaided courses in 1984-85 and self-financing PG courses in 2001. The institute became autonomous in 2006 and has 10 under graduate programmes and 6 Ph.D research departments in the aided stream and 12 undergraduate, 9 postgraduate courses and 4 M.Phil programmes in self-finance stream.

The college is reaccredited to ‘A’ grade by NAAC in 2011. It delivers a high standard of education and discipline through committed staff that makes students wiser and stronger. The Board of Studies designs and develops career oriented and socially productive curriculum, with enriched contents, which is approved by the Academic Council and Governing Body of our college.

Skill based certificate courses are offered to students to equip them to face the current challenges in the job market. The college implemented e-Governance to all the sections of the college (Academic and Administrative System) in 2002-2003. Apart from this, under the E-edu Govern project the institution is offering computer literacy to all the students besides their regular class schedule.

The Dept. of Physics, Chemistry, Plant Biology & Plant Biotechnology were awarded Star Status by Department of Bio-Technology, Government of India, Ministry of Science and Technology, New Delhi.
