Bells Institute of Management and Technology is a registered educational body affiliated to Himachal Pradesh University (HPU), Shimla, Himachal Pradesh Technical University (HPTU), Hamirpur and Himachal Pradesh Takniki Shiksha Board, Dharamshala. All the technical programmes offered at the institute are approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi making ours the first AICTE approved campus in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh.
The management has Shimla Education & Research Society, a registered (not for profit organization under Societies Registration Act of 2006 vide Registration No. 153/2008 registered with the Registrar of Societies, Himachal Pradesh) educational body as its promoter. It has been instrumental in carrying out various projects of education dissemination. All the courses being run by the Society are recognized by the respective governing bodies and none of the courses are of private or autonomous nature.
Our strength lies in delivering technical, professional and job-oriented programmes specifically designed to serve the budding engineers and management trainees of the State. At present, our major focus is on the disciplines of information technology, management, science and technology, insurance, computer sciences etc. We have an energetic and dynamic team with a nationwide reputation of delivering excellence in education dissemination, knowledge disbursement, human resource training, entrepreneurship building and social services.
The current opportunities are inclined towards and demand technical and professional programmes. And to showcase our competence to serve this purpose, people can see that many of our alumni are currently working in reputed and known government departments, public sector undertakings and private organizations of high repute. At present, our institution is serving about 1,500 students and in the next three years, we aim to cater to about 5,000 students related with various job-oriented courses.

The admission procedure to various Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Diploma Courses is explained below. Apart from following the process mentioned, students are required to fulfil the eligibility criteria for the respective courses.
Students are requested to check our website for timely notifications regarding online admission and otherwise. Prospectus and admission forms are also available on the site.
It is made clear to the students that all admissions are subjected to timely payment of fee and submission of required academic documents. Students must provide their original qualifying certificates for verification. Incomplete admission forms, documents and failure of fee submission will lead to cancellation.

Eligibility
To pursue MBA at BELLS students must satisfy following eligibility criteria.
The minimum qualification to apply for admission to the MBA Program is a Bachelor's Degree (10+2+3 years of education) in any discipline which is recognized by the Association of Indian Universities, or any degree equivalent to the Bachelor's Degree, with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in the Secondary / Higher Secondary / Pre-degree Examinations (or equivalent) conducted by a Board / University.
Those appearing for the final year of the Bachelor's degree examinations may also apply subject to completing their examinations or viva-voce, if any, before June 30. Such candidates will however have to fulfil the above eligibility requirements in respect of minimum academic qualifications for admission and furnish evidence to that effect latest by October 31. At the time of interview and/or admissions, they will be required to produce a letter from their College Principal / Head of Institution stating the exam dates.
Candidates with appropriate industry experience will be given preference for admissions. Their work experience will be given due weightage in terms of the organization, position held and duration.
Admission Procedure
Selected candidates will be called to attend Group Discussions and Personal Interviews. Multiple Group Discussion & Personal Interview lists will be released in phases, both before and after the Application Deadline. The intimation for interview & group discussion is done through registered post and e-mail. In the case of some programs, Group Discussion may not be conducted, in favor of a rigorous interview process.
The selection criteria for calling candidates for admissions is based on multiple factors as follows:
- Past academic performance
- Quality & content of the answers in the application form
- Work experience, if any , in terms of job content & organization
- Group Discussion & Interview performance (applicable for final admissions only)
- Extra curricular activities, other interests & accomplishments
- Competitive Test score (CAT, MAT, XAT, CMAT)
A combination of all the above factors are used to determine the eligibility of candidates to be offered final admission. Test scores are NOT the only criteria for selection.
A high test score does not guarantee a call for Group Discussion/Interview. The selection criteria are based on multiple factors as mentioned above.
