Government College Of Engineering And Technology (GCET) Jammu

Government College of Engineering was established in 1994. The college has been approved by All India Council of Technical Education and is affiliated to University of Jammu, Jammu. It is located in Jammu, Jammu and Kashmir.

The college offers various courses at under graduate level.

The admissions to various courses are made on the basis of merit obtained by the students in an entrance test conducted by Board of Professional Entrance Examinations.

The college has a dedicated training and placement cell to help the students secure decent jobs after graduation. Various companies like Hindustan Construction Company, Tata Tele Services, Satyam Computers, Tata Consultancy Services etc visit the campus every year to recruit the students for various job profiles. The college also has an entrepreneurship development cell to encourage start up culture among the students.

The college provides all the modern facilities to its students. Well maintained libraries with a good collection of books, auditorium, spacious classrooms etc. are some of the features of the campus. The campus is fully residential with hostel facilities for all the students.

How to apply

Interested candidate can apply by downloading the form from the official website. Fill in the personal details, academic details along with Roll No. of Entrance Examination, Sr.No. of the Selection list, Merit (Points Obtained), Category against which selected and Branch Allotted. No separate fees is to be paid for this form.

Only application fee submitted during entrance examination form is required. List of documents required for admission is

• 10+2 Examination
• Date of Birth Certificate.
• Certificate of Higher Secondary
• Medical Fitness Certificate.
• Category Certificate
• 10 Passport Size Photographs.
• An Undertaking as appended at A and B with Rs. 5 stamp and Rs 10 stamp.
• Admit Card of CET issued by the BOPEE.
• Print out of Online Anti-Ragging Undertaking.

Admission Procedure

The admission is done according to the rank in the entrance examination conducted by the Board of Professional Entrance Examination of the State Government and centralized counseling is done, where seats are allocated according to the merit of the students.

Students can confirm the seat by visiting the college alloted and paying the fees.

Hostel and Facilities

Hostel:

There are two campuses now after the construction of the new one. It is located in an idyllic setting. The railway station is at a feasible distance.

There is a boys hostel and a newly constructed girls hostel on the campus although there are Paying Guest (PG) rooms available in the near vicinity.

The boys hostel has two buildings which can accommodate 200 students. Food is available in the mess at affordable rates as it is a state owned college. Water and electricity are available.. Transportation services are provided to both students and teachers.

The seniors and students contribute their presence in the hostel’s debate club and cricket tournament called Hostel Premier League.

Other Facilities:

Apart from this, there is a library, a placement cell, and well equipped laboratories are available for relevant scientific pursuits. Wi-Fi is available in the computer room.
