Panjab University (PU) Chandigarh

Panjab University, Chandigarh, is one of the oldest universities in India, established in 1882. It is a government institute recognized by University Grants Commission of India. The university campus covers 550 acres.

Panjab University offers over 850 courses across 78 departments. Popular undergraduate courses include B.A., B.Sc., LLB, BPEd and BTech. The university conducts entrance tests like PU CET UG, PUCET PG, PU MET and PU LAW for admissions. For B.Tech programs it also accepts JEE Main scores.

The university enrolls more than 15,000 students and has a faculty number of around 400. It comprises 188 affiliated colleges in Punjab and Chandigarh.

Panjab University provides different facilities, including a health center, sports complex, hostels and residential housing. Additional amenities include a shopping center, bank, post office, swimming pool and botanical gardens.

Panjab University is accredited by NAAC with a CGPA of 3.68 categorized as A++ Grade. It is recognized by UGC and AICTE. In the NIRF Ranking 2023 it ranks 25th among Indian universities and it is also ranked #1001-1200 in the QS World University Rankings.

The university engages in international collaborations and participates in research projects with foreign institutes. It promotes student and faculty exchange programs and internships.

In 2023 highest package for B.Tech and MBA placements was INR 7.55 LPA and INR 12.41 LPA respectively. The highest package for UIET (BTech/MTech) placements in 2023 was INR 45 LPA.
