University of Kerala formerly known as the University of Travancore is a public university located in Trivandrum, Kerala. It was established in 1937 by the Maharajah Sri Chithira Thirunal Balarama Varma enshrined with the motto “Karmani Vyajyate Pradnya” meaning “Wisdom manifests itself in action”.

The university was one of the first 16 Universities to be established in India. It is affiliated to the University Grants Commission, Delhi and holds ‘A’ grade accreditation from the NAAC.

The University affiliates over 150 colleges. The total number of students in the various colleges like Engineering College, MBA/MCA, Arts and Commerce, Ayurveda, Nursing, Homeopath and dental colleges crosses 84000 in an academic year. It was ranked 47^th overall by the NIRF in 2017.

The Kerala University Library (KUL) established in 1942, is the largest and the oldest library in Kerala. It is stocked with over 3,50,000 books (5000 titles added annually) and has subscriptions to thousands of e-journals/magazines and much more. The university has 6 hostels in total with all necessary facilities. The campus and the hostels are fully WiFi enabled.

Kerala University hosts NSS/NCC programmes for both boys and girls and also provides excellent sports facilities. Every year a national level youth festival is organized where students showcase their talents in Sports and Cultural activities.

Application and Admission Procedure

The University is affiliated to 150 colleges and it offers a number UG/PG and Doctoral courses in diverse fields. Kerala University conducts KEAM (B.Tech) and KU CAT for MBA courses.

The students who qualify KEAM have to attend the counseling session organized by Government of Kerala. Admissions to the Architecture degree is based on the NATA (National Aptitude Test in Architecture) conducted by Council of Architecture. For, LL.M two papers are conducted.

The fee for the B.Tech forms is Rs.1000 for general and Rs. 500 for SC/ST candidates.

B.Arch – Rs.1250

UG admission- Rs.200 for General and Rs.100 for SC/ST

M.Tech – Rs.500 and for M.Sc & MSW- Rs.200

B.Ed- Rs.800 for general and Rs.400 for SC/ST

HOW TO APPLY:

The candidates who wish to apply and also fulfill the eligibility criteria can fill the online application form.

• Visit the official website of Kerala University.
• Go to the “online admissions” and register yourself.
• Then download challan and pay application fee at SBT branch.
• After the payment, login with your user id and password and fill in all your details.
• Also, upload the scanned copy of signature and photograph.
• Then take a printout of the completely filled application form and send it to the University.
• Also attach a copy of required documents like a copy of 10^th, 12^th mark sheet, community certificate etc.

Campus Facilities:

a. The Kerala University provides 6 hostels for the students. Out of the 6 hostels, two are for boys and four are for girls.

b. Some of the other facilities provided in the campus are TV room, gym, medical facility, cafeteria, sports facility for both indoor and outdoor games.
