SCTIMST offers only postgraduate courses. These include M.Tech, Diploma, PG Diploma and MD. The DM course is the institute's flagship program. Institute has three main components- a super specialty hospital a biomedical technology wing and Achutha Menon Centre for Health Science Studies.

In rankings SCTIMST achieved 10th position in medical category of NIRF 2023 ranking and 9th in 2022. Institute collaborates internationally as an ICMR Collaborating Centre of Excellence.
