Darbanga Medical College (DMC), Laheriasarai was established in 1925 as Darbanga Medical School. The Darbhanga Medical School became a medical college in 1946. The college posts interns at three primary health centers in the district in rotation. There are plans to start departments for specializations like neurosurgery, plastic surgery and urology and to expand lodging facilities for students and interns, free medicine is available under schemes of the Bihar government and the DMCH has plans of expanding and upgrading existing facilities.
