Jabalpur Engineering College was initially known as Government Engineering College of Jabalpur. It was established on 7th July 1947. It is located near Gopalpur, Jabalpur in the state of Madhya Pradesh. It is a public University.
The campus is Urban and is spread across 255 acres of land and provides facilities like hostel, gymnasium, library, sports area, cafeteria and more.
The college provides undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD courses and programs.

Admission is based on the marks obtained by the candidates in class 12th and through counselling by the scores obtained in MP-PET.
The college is recognized and approved by AICTE. The college was initially affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi Technical University, Bhopal and later was declared autonomous by the government of Madhya Pradesh in the year 1998-1999.
