Walchand College Of Engineering (WCE) Sangli

Walchand College of Engineering was started as New Engineering College in 1947, and gained autonomy in 2007. The institute has been approved by AICTE, New Delhi and accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA).

A minimum of 45% marks in 10+2 are required for B.Tech and admissions are done on the basis of Maharashtra Common Entrance Test. For M.Tech, the candidate must be a graduate and have a valid GATE score.

The WCE campus is located on 90 acres of land on southern side of Sangli-Miraj road. There are facilities like WiFi-equipped campus and hostel, labs and library. Companies like Amazon, Google, Seagate, etc. have recruited from the college.

Hostel and Facilities

The campus of Walchand College of Engineering is spread over an area of 95 acres.Different departments are allotted to different buildings.A central quadrangle consisting of classrooms with a seating capacity of 60-70 students along with a few classrooms of 100 students is available.

An assembly hall called Tilak and an open-air theatre is located at the centre of the quadrangle. The library of this college has a reading room facility.The IT department provides lab facilities to the students.

The hostel facility was developed in the year 1958 for the males and in 1987 for the females. Eight hostel blocks has the capacity to allot 738 students.The hostellers are provided with a Wi-Fi and an internet connection.

Due to increasing female candidates in the recent years, two hostel blocks were modified into women’s hostels. Another hostel block comprising of 46 rooms was converted into cyber hostel under the chairmanship of Shri Ajit Gulabchand.
