About the institute

The Thakur Institute of Management Studies and Research was established in the year 2002 at Kandivali East in Mumbai. It is managed by the Zadgu Singh Charitable Trust and is regarded as one of the leading management institutes in Mumbai. It offers a number of part time post graduate programs like MMM, MFM, MIM and MHRDM. The full time PG courses that it offers are MMS and PGDM.

How to apply?

Candidate can apply either online or offline. The application form (Available at https://www.eventavenue.com/attReglogin.do?eventId=EVT5618) has to be filled and the fee of Rs. 1500 is to be made via online payment. It can also be collected from the Institute office by making a cash payment of Rs. 1500. The necessary documents to be submitted along with the application form are two attested copies of the SSC Mark sheet, HSC Mark sheet, Graduation Mark sheet, Graduation Passing Certificate, Entrance Test Score Card and Work Experience Certificate, if any.

Admission Procedure

The admission procedure is fairly simple and comprises of a selection procedure that happens post submission of the duly filled application forms and necessary certificates. The selection procedure will comprise of a Group Discussion and a Personal Interview and the names of the candidates who are thereby selected will be displayed on the college notice board on the next day.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the post graduate program, the candidate must have completed a graduate course in any discipline and passed with a minimum average of 50% from a university that is recognized by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU/AICTE). If the candidate is appearing for the final examination in 2015, documents of having passed are to be produced on or before the 31st of July2015.
The candidate must have also taken up at least one of the entrance tests required by AICTE (CMAT/MH-CET/CAT/MAT/ATMA/XAT/JMET) and scores are to be submitted.

Campus Facilities (i.e. Infrastructure)

The campus has all the state-of-the art facilities including well furnished classrooms, an air conditioned auditorium, a learning resource center, a language lab, a well equipped gymnasium and various facilities for indoor and outdoor sports.

Hostel

Hostel facility is available for both boys and girls.

The Institute has an extremely active placement and student development cell that conducts regular training and personality development programs. It boasts of an excellent placement record, with students getting placed in highly reputed companies like 99 Acres.com, Glodyne Technoserve Ltd., Ogilvy, Aditya Birla Retail Ltd., H.T. Media, Parle Agro Pvt. Ltd., Acme Group, HDB Financial year after year.

The Institute has an extremely active student body that organizes various activities through the year. The event Samvedna was organized by the students to spread awareness to the streets of Mumbai. Medical camps called “aarambh” and various awareness drives and rallies regarding pollution, importance of hygiene were conducted.

Eligibility

To pursue MBA at TIMSR students must satisfy following eligibility criteria.

The minimum qualification to apply for admission to the MBA Program is a Bachelor's Degree (10+2+3 years of education) in any discipline which is recognized by the Association of Indian Universities, or any degree equivalent to the Bachelor's Degree, with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in the Secondary / Higher Secondary / Pre-degree Examinations (or equivalent) conducted by a Board / University.

Those appearing for the final year of the Bachelor's degree examinations may also apply subject to completing their examinations or viva-voce, if any, before June 30. Such candidates will however have to fulfil the above eligibility requirements in respect of minimum academic qualifications for admission and furnish evidence to that effect latest by October 31. At the time of interview and/or admissions, they will be required to produce a letter from their College Principal / Head of Institution stating the exam dates.

Candidates with appropriate industry experience will be given preference for admissions. Their work experience will be given due weightage in terms of the organization, position held and duration.

Admission Procedure

Selected candidates will be called to attend Group Discussions and Personal Interviews. Multiple Group Discussion & Personal Interview lists will be released in phases, both before and after the Application Deadline. The intimation for interview & group discussion is done through registered post and e-mail. In the case of some programs, Group Discussion may not be conducted, in favor of a rigorous interview process.

The selection criteria for calling candidates for admissions is based on multiple factors as follows:

  • Past academic performance
  • Quality & content of the answers in the application form
  • Work experience, if any , in terms of job content & organization
  • Group Discussion & Interview performance (applicable for final admissions only)
  • Extra curricular activities, other interests & accomplishments
  • Competitive Test score (CAT, MAT, XAT, CMAT)

A combination of all the above factors are used to determine the eligibility of candidates to be offered final admission. Test scores are NOT the only criteria for selection.

A high test score does not guarantee a call for Group Discussion/Interview. The selection criteria are based on multiple factors as mentioned above.
