It is one of the first engineering college in India which has been established by the Para military force. It has been formed to take care of the edcuation of children who were unable to study due to the unforseen circumstances. It has been set up with an objective of providing an opportunity to the students who were denied or not made avaialble the right to edcuation. It has been named after the founding father of BSF Padma Vibhushan Late K.F. Rustamji.
The campus of the institue is self contained with all the basic facilities for the well being of the students. It has well-equipped laboratories, a rich library with internet facility, Audio-Visual facility and place for organizing and conducting various other activities.
Courses offered
Bachelor of Technology(B tech)- Automobile Engineering, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering and Computer Science Engineering.
Post Graduate in Engineering – MTech) in Electronic Communication and Automobile Engineering and Master of Computer Applications (MCA).

Hostel and Facilities
Hostel
Rustamji Institute of Technology provides hostel facilities for boys and girls. More hostels are under construction and are believed to be completed by next session. The hostel rooms are clean and well furnished. The basic accommodations like bed, fan, tube light, and cupboard are provided to students. Each room has an attached bathroom with it.
Each hostel has its own mess which provides tasty and healthy food to students. The diet plan is well made to ensure the health of students and to provide them with hygienic food. The mess is open on the timing specified in the mess rules.

The college provides students with various other facilities such as training grounds, library, well furnished class rooms, computer centers, workshops and laboratories equipped with latest instruments, reading room, and well furnished lecture halls.
