IGNOU Distance MBA Application forms

IGNOU conducts its OPENMAT twice a year for admission in its MBA programme. Students need to fill up the first form in order to sit for the OPENMAT exam. The following table shows the date sheet for both the examinations:

Students can apply for the examination both online and offline.

The application fee is INR 1050 for each course the candidate is applying for. Candidates need to make the payment by means of a demand draft from any scheduled commercial bank in favour of IGNOU and it is payable at any regional centre concerned.

It is important to write the Name, Enrolment Number and address of the candidate on the backside of the demand draft for reference.

This fee is non-refundable under any circumstance. This is for students applying offline, in case the student is applying online, the transaction can be made over the internet

Students would have to download the form and this form is called “Form 1” from the official site of IGNOU.

Documents required

The following documents are needed for filling the online Form-1

  • Marksheets of Class 10, 12 and Bachelor’s degree
  • Scanned image of photograph and signature
  • Credit card/debit card
  • Scanned latest Photograph of the candidate (Maximum 100 KB)
  • Scanned latest Signature of the candidate(Maximum 100 KB)
  • Scanned copy of Age Proof of the candidate (Maximum 100 KB)
  • Scanned copy of the relevant Educational Qualifications of the candidate (Maximum 100 KB)
  • Scanned Copy of Experience Certificate of the candidate (If Any). (Maximum 100 KB)
  • Scanned Copy of Category Certificate of the candidate, if s/he belongs to SC/ST/OBC category (Maximum 100 KB)
  • Scanned Copy of BPL Certificate of the candidate, Ifs/he is Below Poverty Line. (Must be less than 100 KB)
  • Fee can be paid by following methods: Credit Card/Debit Card (Master/Visa/Rupay) or through Net Banking

Students can get the” Form 1” along with the management prospectus which is published by IGNOU in a separate envelope or they can download the same from the website.

After filling in the form, it needs to be sent to the following address via speed post. The application must be sent before the last date of the submission of the application to-

How to fill

How to fill the application “Form 1”

The following steps need to be followed for filling the form online:

Step 1: Registration and generation of user id and password:

In order to register, the candidate has to click on the “Register Online” tab on the official site. Candidates have to select “Online Admission” followed by “register yourself”. The following are the details that need to filled for registering

  • Name of the applicant
  • Father’s name
  • Date of Birth
  • Gender
  • E-mail
  • Mobile number
  • Username
  • Password
  • Confirm password
  • Enter the code shown below- Here the candidate has to enter the security code that will be shown on the bottom side of the window.After that the candidate has to click on “submit”. By clicking on ‘Submit’, the User Name and Password will get generated.

Step 2: Login and filling up of details

Here the candidates would have to log in with the user name and password that had been generated in the previous stage and start filling out the details. The following programme details need to be filled:

  • Programme type
  • Select programme for enrollment
  • Regional centre: Here the candidate would have to select Regional Centre nearest to him/her. The list of all regional centres along with their codes can be accessed by the candidate in the 2nd appendix in the prospectus.
  • Study centre code: Here the candidate needs to select the study centre which will be most convenient for the candidate to attend. The candidates can check the list of the study centres along with their codes in the Appendix 3 given in the prospectus.
  • State code: In this field the candidate has to enter the code corresponding to the State of residence of the candidate. Candidates can access the complete list of the sates and union territories of India along with their codes from the 4th Appendix of the prospectus.
  • Medium
  • Are you already student of IGNOU for another programme.

STEP-3: Filling up personal details

Then the following personal details would be required:

  • Name
  • Father’s name
  • Date of birth
  • Nationality
  • Gender
  • Category
  • Territory
  • Marital Status
  • Religion
  • Whether minority
  • Social status
  • Mode of study
  • Whether physically handicapped
  • Employment status
  • Annual Scholarship Amount
  • Department offering scholarship
  • Family income
  • Below poverty line
  • Whether Kashmiri migrant

The following qualification details have also to be filled:

  • Eligibility criteria
  • Relevant qualification
  • Main subjects
  • Year of passing
  • Division
  • % of marks
  • Board code

The following residential and contact details also need to be provided

  • Address Line 1
  • City
  • State
  • Pin Code
  • Telephone number with STD code
  • Fax number with STD code
  • Mobile number
  • E-mail id

Step 4: Uploading photograph and signature:

Candidates need to upload their scanned signature and photograph both of which should be less than 100kb.

Payment of fees

Once the entire process has been completed, candidates need to proceed to the payment of a fee. This can be done via credit/debit card or net banking. One the payment has been made, candidates should keep a printout of the confirmation page for future use.

The above-given procedure was that of filling the “ form 1” After filling up the “form 1” candidates need to download their admit card. The admit card of IGNOUOPENMAT (XLIII) will be released around March 04, 2018.

In order to download IGNOUOPENMAT admit card 2018, candidates will have to log in with their enrolment number. The admit card contains information

  • Name of the candidate
  • Enrollment number of the candidate
  • Date, time, name, address of test centers
  • Exam day guidelines.

If the candidate is able to meet the cut-off criteria and the individual programme requirement, they would have to apply for the admission the university which would happen after filling “ Form-2”’ which is again available online and is also available with the prospectus. The form is fairly easy to fill however, the following fields can cause a bit of confusion:

Field 4: Study Centre code

The code is in relation to the study centre from where the candidate would like to attend his/her counselling session (which will be conducted on weekends) as well as other learning activities. The candidates can check the list of the study centres along with their codes in the Appendix-3 given in the prospectus. The candidate must keep in mind the ease with which

she/he can travel to the venue while choosing the study center.

Field 5: State code

This is the code of the state of the candidate. Candidates can access the complete list of the states and union territories of India along with their codes from the 4th Appendix of the prospectus.

These are the fields where the candidates might face a little unfamiliarity while applying, the rest of the fields are fairly simple including name of the candidate and other personal details like parent’s name, address, contact number, educational qualification etc.

Candidates must fill in the details very carefully, providing any kind of incorrect information will lead to cancellation of application.

After filling up the application form carefully, the candidate must provide the following documents-

  • Attested copies of certificates proving the educational qualifications of the candidate. This includes 10th and 12th board results and results of 1st,2nd and 3rd year of graduation
  • Original copy of the OPENMAT scorecard of the candidate
  • Original copy of the OPENMAT Hall ticket of the candidate
  • Category Certificate in the case the candidate belongs from SC/ST/OBC category
  • Experience Certificate if required)
  • Filled up Identity Card of the candidate (The identity card is available towards the end pages of the prospectus.)

The candidate should also include the Program Fee as a Demand Draft or Bank Challan drawn in favor of IGNOU payable at the place where your Regional Center of the candidate is located.

The filled up application form along with these documents and the course fee must be sent to Regional Centre chosen by the candidate and nowhere else. The addresses of the regional centres are available with the regional centre codes in the prospectus in Appendix-2.
