Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology wasestablished in the year 1970 by the then Chief Minister of UP.The University was dedicated to the Nation by the first Prime Minister of India Pt Jawaharlal Nehru on 17 November 1960.The establishment of this university brought about a revolution in agricultural education, research and extension. It is the first agricultural university of India.It was inaugurated by Jawahar Lal Nehru on 17 November 1960 as the Uttar Pradesh Agricultural University. The university is named in memory of the first Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and statesman Pandit Govind Ballabh Pant.
