University of Petroleum & Energy Studies (UPES) It is a state public- private type of university and was established in the year 2003 and is located in Dehradun, Uttrakhand.

The main motto of the university is to provide education to the students in the fields of education, research, energy, power and so on.

It was established through an act of State in the year 2003 and provides multidisciplinary courses in the fields of transportation, computer science, information technology, supply chain, public policy, legal studies, and logistics and so on.

The suburban campus of the university covers around 42 acres and covers across two campuses. The campus covers all the research and development centers, laboratories, seminar halls, and hostels and so on.

The University has expanded its approach into the field to information technology, transportation, public policy, design, business, legal studies, architecture and various other sectors.

How to apply

This university runs Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Doctoral courses (part time/ full time ) under different schools known as :

• School of Law
• School of Engineering
• School of Business
• School of Computer Science
• School of Design

Apart from these distance education is also available for some courses such as BBA, MBA and other certificate courses.

The application to these courses can be made through online method:

Online mode: Students are required to register themselves before applying. Then the students may proceed fill the form on the website’s page and pay through Credit/ Debit cards or other Net banking options. A scanned passport sized photograph would be required while making the application process.

The fees can be paid online or through a DD of Rs 1850.

Admission procedure

For BBA courses, 75% marks in 10th and 12th classes are needed. It will be followed by GD and PI.

For MBA admissions, students must have 50% marks in the relevant graduation stream. The score of the university’s Management Entrance Test (UPESMET) with a GD and PI will be required too.

For the M.Tech courses, 60% marks in matriculation and intermediate levels and graduation are required.

For the M.Des, LLB and LLM courses, 50% marks in 10th and 12th and qualification of these entrance tests would be required: UPES Design Aptitude Test (UPESDAT), CLAT/SAT/UPESLAW would be mandatory along with an interview and group discussion.

Students with required scores in other subjects entrance exams will be exempted from taking the entrance exam conducted by the university.

Hostel and Facilities

Campus Facility

The University of Petroleum and Energy Studies campus was founded in the year 2003 in the city of Dehradun located in the state of Uttarakhand. The institute is recognized by University Grants Commission (UGC) and has been accredited with Grade ‘A’ by National Assessment and Accreditation Council.

The campus is spread over 42 acres of land with modern up to date infrastructure. It consists of multimedia-enabled classrooms, sector-specific labs and a well-stocked library with separate reference and digital section. Other recreational facilities on campus are sports complex, reading room, cafeteria, health center, guest house, and auditorium.

Hostel

Accommodation is available for both men and women. Hostels can accommodate around 200 students and rooms are given on first come first serve basis. Each room in the hostel has an inbuilt cupboard, a study table and chair and a bed.

Rooms are spacious and the hostel provides a hygienic mess with wide dining space. Recreational room, TV room, Reading room and indoor games area form a part of the hostel. 24/7 power supply, internet facility, and security are provided to the hostels.
