It is a co-educational state university which was established in 1868 as a college and in 2006 as a university by the governor of Odisha and is located in Cuttack, Odisha which is on the eastern coast of India. The institute is famous for providing variety of courses to the students along with the source of practical learning.
It has been approved and accredited by UGC and is one of the oldest universities with nine schools, 33 academic departments, providing diverse courses in various fields.
The urban campus is built on the 87 acres of land located closely to the Cuttack Railway Station. It has been accredited with an A grade by the NAAC team. It was affiliated to the Utkal University in the year 1943.
The main objective of the institute is to provide education to the students in an excellent manner along with a dynamic environment for growth and excellence.
Application and Admission Procedure
How to Apply
The application process of Ravenshaw University is a combination of both online and offline means. Candidates need to visit the official site of the University to get the application form. Candidates need to fill the form properly with the required details. Once the form has been filled candidates need to pay a fee of INR 200 via online mode. Once the procedure has been completed candidates need to take out two print outs of the application form and fee receipt. One set is to be retained by the candidate. While sending the application form candidates need to write. “APPLICATION FOR ADMISSION TO PG COURSE IN SUBJECT” on the top of the A4 size envelope.
Admission to the University depends on the performance of the candidate in the entrance exam conducted by the University. If the candidates qualify through the entrance exam they will be summoned to the University and the admission will be guaranteed on payment of fees and verification of documents.
Hostel and Facilities
Situated in the heart of the city, Cuttack, it is 87 acres and located close to the airport, railway station and bus station. The University has recently acquired 140 acres of land close to the river Mahanadi.
The University has 6 boys’ hostels and 7 for girls with a capacity of 1400 boys and 2200 girls and adequate capacities in the later hostels. Students are accommodated on the basis of marks secured in the previous examination and must fulfil the eligibility to avail the hostel facility. A casual guest can be permitted in the hostel rooms on seeking prior permission.
The Kanika library is the biggest and oldest central library in the state, belonging to the University. It contains more than 2 lakh books, journals, rare manuscripts, 80,000 e-books etc.
The campus hosts many other facilities like post office, SBI bank, gymnasium, ATMs, state-of-art indoor sports complex, a student information bureau etc.
