University of Calicut (CU) is a public university established in 1968 by the state government of Kerala. The prime campus is located in Thenjipalam in the state of Kerala. It also has a number of off-campus center in Kozhikode, Wayanad, Thrissur, Palakkad and Lakshadweep. It is the largest university in Kerala.
The university has around 480 colleges (279 private) with a strong faulty base in MBA, Botany, Physics, Malayalam, English and Physical Education.
The annual intake of the university is close to 1,00,000 students across its graduation, post-graduation and doctorate courses. Admission into the university is done through both national entrances exams(for specific courses) and the entrance conducted by the university itself.

Application and Admission Procedure
Candidates interested in pursuing education at the Calicut University can avail the application forms from the Directorate of Admission site of the official website. Majority of the undergraduate and postgraduate courses are offered without entrance examinations.
Students have to register in the admission portal, fill in all the personal and academic details and pay a non-refundable fees of Rs.500/- (Differs for each course), through credit / debit card.
The University will release the list of shortlisted candidates, who are then required to appear for the counselling session along with their 10+2 (For UG) and undergraduate certificates (For PG).
Admission into the UG programs is based on UGCAP and for admission into PG courses, candidates have to clear PGCAP. A separate test is conducted by the university for admission into research programs.
The results will be announced within a month of the examination after which based on ranking, students will be selected.
Hostel and Facilities
The university is located in rural Malappuram, Kerala, with a campus spread over a large area. A guest house complex is located within the main campus, with 40 (both AC and non-AC) well-maintained rooms along with a dormitory. The guest house’s kitchen serves both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food.
A central library – C.H Mohamed Koya Central Library – is quite well organized and consists of a huge collection of books. Other infrastructure include a book & souvenir shop, a cyber-spot, and a cafeteria, well-equipped laboratories.
As per the official website, the university only provides guest house facility.
Students from various clubs and societies to express and exchange thoughts and ideas. They organize many debates, quiz competitions, etc. This university also provides scholarships to meritorious and economically underprivileged students.
