University focuses on agricultural education and services for Punjab. It has five constituent colleges- College of Agriculture, College of Agricultural Engineering, College of Community Science, College of Basic Sciences & Humanities and College of Horticulture and Forestry.
PAU offers undergraduate postgraduate and doctoral programs. Flagship program is BSc (Hons) in Agriculture. PAU enrolls more than 4,000 students which include more than 2500 in undergraduate programs, 1350+ in master's programs and and 400+ in doctoral programs. The university has faculty of 800+ teaching members.
Facilities include a library, hostels, an auditorium, sports facilities and a 20-bedded hospital on campus. For admissions PAU conducts Common Entrance Test (CET) for most BSc (Hons.) courses. A valid score in JEE Main is required for B.Tech in Agricultural Engineering.
PAU is recognized by UGC and approved by ICAR. It ranked 74th overall in NIRF 2023, making it highest-ranked state agricultural university in India. The university collaborates internationally, notably with California State University, Fresno.
Placements - MBA students receive packages ranging from 6 LPA to 8 LPA. About 50% of students secure placements. The average salary package is approximately 3.71 LPA with the highest package at 9 LPA.
