Birla Institute of Applied Sciences (BIAS) is located in the most picturesque surroundings of the lake town of Bhimtal. It isin the Nainital district of Uttarakhand state.The campus is spread over an area of about 10 hectares of prime land amongst the Kumaun hills, thus providing a cool climate and lush green environmental surroundings, ideally conducive for academic pursuit. The Institute is affiliated to the Uttarakhand Technical University, Dehradun.Hostel facility is available for all the admitted students.BIASoffers threedegree programmes namely: (1) Masters in Computer Applications (MCA), (2) B. Tech. (Electronics & Communication Engineering), and (3) B. Tech. (Computer Science and Engineering). All these programmes are approved by the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE).
The Institute has synergistic networking with Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra (Ranchi) and BIT Extension Centre, Noida. It finds its origins in the educational and scientific research endowments of the G. P. Birla Group of Industries. Over the years, BIAS has developed into a preferred destination of many companiesfor Campus Placements. In the year 2015-16, about 90 percent of MCA Final Year students and about 80 percent B. Tech. final year studentsgot prestigious jobs through Campus Placements.The Institute focusses ondevelopment of technical, behavioural, communication,spiritual and creative skills of its students.
