Birla Institute Of Applied Science Nainital

The Birla Institute of Applied Science, Bhimtal, Uttarakhand is affiliated with Uttarakhand Technical University. It was previously associated with Kumaon University. The institute occupies 20 acres of land. Institute was founded in 1969 by Shri B. M. Birla as a sister institute to Birla Institute of Technology Mesra, Ranchi. The institute is private and unaided. 

It offers multiple undergraduate and graduate programs- MCA (intake of 18) B.Tech in Electronics & Communication Engineering (E&CE) with an intake of 30 and B.Tech in Computer Science Engineering (CSE) with an intake of 180.

Student accommodation consists of five boys' hostels roughly accommodating 300 students and one girls' hostel with about 200 beds. Campus features Wi-Fi in both academic block and hostels. A dispensary and ambulance service are available for health concerns. Various student societies and clubs promote cultural literary and sports activities. 

The institute has a structured Training and Placement Cell to assist in student placements. Admissions occur through direct Institute Level counseling or online counseling by Uttarakhand Technical University. AICTE has approved the institute.

In 2021-2022 academic year placement rate was 85% for MCA and 90% for BTech An MoU has established a digital lab on campus under NASSCOM to enhance computer literacy in nearby regions.
