Uttarakhand Technical University (UTU) is located in Dehradun. The government established the university in 2005. It is a public institute and serves as the sole affiliating university for technical colleges in Uttarakhand. It has 8 constituent institutes and around 132 affiliated colleges across the state. UGC has approved the university.

UTU offers 8 undergraduate, 6 postgraduate and 18 PhD programs. Degree programs include B.Tech, B.Pharm, BHMCT, MBA, MCA, M.Pharm, M.Tech and MHMCT. Various fields of study available are Management, Engineering, Hotel Management, Computer Application and Pharmacy. Approximately 20,000 students are enrolled.
