Government Medical College Chandigarh

Government Medical College, Chandigarh was established in 1991. This college is affiliated with Punjab University. The campus covers an area of 36 acres.

The college provides different courses, including undergraduate, postgraduate and super-specialty levels. Flagship course is MBBS program. Other courses include B.Sc Nursing, B.Sc Medical Laboratory Technology and B.Optom at the undergraduate level. At the postgraduate level, the college offers MD and MS programs, along with DM at the super-specialty level.

Government Medical College has nearly 160+ teaching staff members and 70 junior residents. Intake for MBBS program has an intake of 100 students.

The college has facilities like classrooms, laboratories, a library and hostels to support students and staff. 

For admissions college accepts NEET UG scores for MBBS program and NEET PG scores for MD/MS programs. For B.Sc Nursing, B.Sc MLT and B.Sc Optom, college conducts GMCH Chandigarh Combined Test (GCET).

The National Medical Commission (NMC) approves the college. It is ranked 32nd in the Medical Category by NIRF 2023.

After graduation, the students can join hospitals of their choice after their program. They may also prepare for NEET PG for one year to pursue a specialty course. An internship of one year is mandatory during which students receive a stipend of approximately Rs. 31,000 per month.
