Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute Of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS) Lucknow

The Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS) is a government medical college in Lucknow. It was established in 1983 by government of Uttar Pradesh. The institute is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and approved by the Medical Council of India (MCI). 

The institute is autonomous. It operates as a university and is a member of the Association of Indian Universities. The campus covers an area of 550 acres. 

The institute provides postgraduate training for medical and non-medical professionals. It offers many degrees that the Medical Council of India recognizes, including DM, MCh, MD, Ph.D., postdoctoral fellowships and postdoctoral certificate courses in multiple disciplines. It is well-known for its Post Doctoral Certificate Courses (PDCC).

SGPGIMS has a student body of more than 600 and a faculty of 170 members. It includes 29 academic departments. Institute provides extensive facilities, including 1,609 beds, 276 ICU beds and 87 HDU beds. It houses 39 operation theaters and operates around 150 outpatient clinics weekly.

For admissions SGPGIMS accepts scores from NEET PG and conducts its entrance examination, the Common Nursing Entrance Test (CNET-2024), for B.Sc Nursing and M.Sc Nursing programs. The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) ranked the institute 7th in 2023. Institute is also approved by NAAC.

SGPGIMS has international collaborations and provides support for research. It offers state-of-the-art facilities, seed funding and opportunities for participation in clinical trials and collaborative projects. 

For placements SGPGIMS reported a 91% placement rate for PG courses in 2023. The median salary package was INR 18 LPA for 2-Year PG students and INR 28 LPA for 3-Year PG students.
