Jagannath Kishore College (J. K. College), Purulia was established in 1948 as a private college affiliated to Patna University and presently the college is affiliated to Sidho-Kanho-Birsha University. The college is accredited by NAAC with B+ grade. The college functioned as a private college till it was recognized by the then Government of Bihar as a Govt. aided institution in 1951. They believe in quality andemphasize the importance of value-based education with an aim of enabling the students not just to became competitive in a worldly way, but also to make them responsive to and responsible enough for this global village.

The vision of the institute is to actualize the long cherished dream of higher education of the inhabitants of Purulia. This college is to be made instrumental in catering to the needs of the poor youths having rich latent potentialities and in satisfying their thirst for inquisitiveness to a great possible extent.
