Aliah University is a State Public University located in New Town, Kolkata. It was established in 1880. The university was previously known as Mohammedan College of Calcutta.

The campus covers approximately 20 acres and includes multi-storeyed buildings with free Wi-Fi and CCTV systems. It features 156 classrooms accommodating around 12,000 students.

Aliah University offers programs in Arts, Science and Technology. It provides 29 undergraduate courses and 19 postgraduate programs in different disciplines. Key courses include B.Tech, BCA, BBA+MBA, BSc (Nursing), MCA, MA and LLM. University's flagship program is BTech
