Tumkur University was established in 2004 in Tumkur, Karnataka. It was earlier part of the Bangalore University, but later separated to cater the higher education needs of the students of Tumkur District.

It one of the renowned universities in southern India with 94 affiliated colleges, 2 constituent colleges and12 postgraduate departments. It offers courses in various disciplines including Commerce, Fashion, Science, Management etc.

Aspiring candidates can apply for application in the month of May for Bachelors and research programs and July for MastersProgram. The admission is on class 12^th scores for UG courses and merit cum counselling for PG courses. Those interested in pursuing a research course will have to appear for an entrance test followed by an interview.

The departments are divided into four faculties namely-

• The forms are made available to students of UG and doctoral in the month of May and for PG students, in the month of July.

Candidates are taken in on thebasis of merit only or an interview (For some courses). The marks scored in the entrance exam will decide the candidate’s admission.

Hostel and Facilities

Campus Facility-

The campus of Tumkur University is located in Tumkur region of the state Karnataka, India. The university has been recognized by University Grants Commission and has also been categorized as a High-Quality University of the region.

It provides a serene campus with modern up to date classrooms and well-developed laboratories for various departments. The well stocked library is present on campus with a special section dedicated to digital journals and their hard copies. The campus also has an inbuilt innovative monumental society for enhancement of archeology.

There are many scientific facilities available on campus like remote Sensing Center, Automated Weather station workshops, and a Virtual e-learning center. Other facilities include transportation, playgrounds, sports complex, cafeteria, and a dispensary.

Hostel Facility-

The university provides separate hostels for boys and girls. Hostels are spacious with single seater and two seater rooms.

Each room is provided with a bedding, table, chair, and cupboard. The hostels have a homely atmosphere and calm environment. Each one of them has a wide dining space with attached hygienic kitchen.

Other facilities include round the clock security, full day internet facility, recreational rooms with television, a sports arena for indoor and outdoor games.

Student Activity-

For the overall development of students, regular seminars and debate competitions are conducted. Other extra-curricular activities include sports meet, cultural fests and inter-college youth fests.
